Where do your Formula 1 loyalties lie - and why?

RBR....

Brawn just because Button is such a funny bloke with a wicked sense of humour

McLaren because i have been a fan of them for years [even through the bad times i still like them to do well]

My reply is probably very similar to kaiowas' but here goes:

Ferrari - As an avid Schumacher fan, I defaulted to Ferrari, but even before he drove for them, I always liked the shiny red cars as a youngster. I'm a bit 'meh' about them at the moment. Not because they aren't winning, but I think Kimi is a bit arrogant and miserable, and I'm indifferent about Massa.

Williams - I hold a grudge since the Hill days and have never been a Williams fan. My fist Scalextric had a Lotus and a Williams and I always made my dad be the Williams :p

Force India - well someone has to be at the back. Not really bothered about them tbh, not interested in the drivers either.

Toyota - Again, I'm quite indifferent. They seem to have good races and bad races, and the drivers seem pretty decent but they are not a team I've ever particularly been bothered to follow.

BMW - Although I'd rather not support anything with a BMW badge, I took a liking to Kubica in Schumacher's last season as he clearly showed potential. I dislike the team as a whole though as they don't seem to be cashing in on Kubicas talent, wasting last season working on a car for this season, which is complete rubbish. I'd love to see Ferrari pick up Kubica.

Brawn - I was never really bothered about the Honda team, pretty much indifferent like Toyota. I'm glad Ross Brawn took it over though as he seems a good guy, and also glad he kept Jensen in the business as he clearly is a good driver, and it's nice to have a Brit win.

Toro Rosso - Not really bothered!

Red Bull - Vettel is showing some great potential, and he's also a good PR kind of guy, just what the media likes. I like Mark Webber too, although someone in the industry tells me he's a ****. Hmph!

Renault - And again, another team I'm indifferent to!

McLaren - Nah. Same as BMW, I'm not a Merc fan, and I'm really annoyed at all the hype Lewis gets when he's basically been spoonfed the position at Mclaren. Don't get me started, seriously! :p

I started following F1 in 92 - and really followed Williams back then especially when Hill got the race seat. Almost died (with half the nation it seems) when Hill lost the win in the Arrows on the last lap in Hungary to JV...almost but not quite made it worth while seeing him overtake MS in a Ferrari round the outside of turn 1

Onto current teams

Ferrari - When Berger drove for them they where an ok team, but they slowly became untrustworthy until now I really cant stand them and I dont trust their motives in anything they do. Simple as that. Kimi should be outclassing Massa but just isnt - in some respects he reminds me of Berbatov, he could be fantastic if only he would really try.

McLaren - for a few years while DC was there, but always knew Kimi was favoured by RD, rightly or wrongly - even though a couple of wins where definitely taken away from DC unfairly. I still dont see anything they did wrong with the whole Spygate affair but lost a bit of respect for them over Aus 09 from sheer stupidity if nothing else. Kovi has to go and I really hope Lewis gets a chance of defending his title properly (even if Brawn eventually win it) I just hate seeing champs in duff cars through no fault of their own.

Brawn - What can I say, I was hoping they would survive all winter, and was one of the few on here argueing that it could well be a decent car even with all the turmoil , but frequently got shouted down. Supported Jenson since he joined Williams and really glad he has now got a car that his talent deserves. Rubens is a good guy but just isnt in the same league (if he ever was). I was here last few years supporting Honda too and JB particularly

Force India (who?) Dont really care about them, Fisi often blocks people from lapping him and should have given up that seat long ago. Cant even think who the 2nd driver is.

Torro Rosso - I dont agree with one "manufacturer" /two teams - its just wrong on many levels.

(one ENGINE supplier supporting two independant teams is one thing, a team like Ferrari or Renault supplying their engine elsewhere, Im suspicious about how much that other team assist Ferrari when they shouldnt)

Red Bull - Preferred them with DC, Horner is ok and they are doing incredibly well and good luck to them, but with a huge manufacturer as the name of the team, one of the best engines on the grid and the best aero guy in the last 20 years on the team , so they should really!!!

Williams - I always liked FW and PH, and wish them every success -even if they cant find it at the moment, I hope they find whats missing soon.

Renault - well Alonso and FB deserve each other - slimey untrustworthy so and so's (and I dont trust a team who allows their CEO / Manager to personally manage the drivers he hires - serious conflict of interest as well as feathering his own nest)

Wow, made me think back to the days of the older independent teams. I always loved stewart, prost, sauber and tyrrell back in the day (and lotus for their last win in 96) but now iv had to re-think how some of the current teams look to me.

Ferrari- The marmite team , i love them! not todays drivers (i mean i really hate drivers who bring their dads along) and kimi just isnt fun, but the arrogence and image of ferrari you cant beat. I loved them back in the day with Alesi and Berger (best driver combination of the 90's) and when Schumacher was there with Eddie and Rubens they were great! I hope they get Alonso and someone funny soon.

McLaren- Never really liked (apart from with DC and Mikka). The team seem to be dull, lifeless and not that interesting. Plus i really dont like the nurturing of the massive marketing tool that is hamilton, that just sucks the fun and life out of F1

Williams- Last of the real independent (and propper) teams, i always like to see sir Frank Williams and Partick Head at teh races, just not overwhelmed by their driver choices over the last few years. (Webber was their last good driver for me and he had an average car).

Red Bull- Love this team! Been a fan since they took over from Jaguar (which wasnt hard as im from the north side of MK and they are my local team, just like its previos incarnations). This is their year (best car they have designed) and Webber is one of my all time great drivers, just for is brilliant attitude towards life (Vettel is still a bit young to be awesome, maybe)

Toyota- The joke of F1, wasted FAR too much money on Ralf, and have only just gooten close to having a good car (shame about the team tatics) could care if they leave. Like the driver pairing though

Torro Rosso- i want them to change the name back to Minardi and get back to being propper underdog status. Im probably the only Bourdais fan left in the world....

Force India- Dont like. Dont like them getting rid of mike Gasgoin (same for Toyota), dont like the guy who owns it (hes a fool) and dont like the car colours. I like the drivers but neither really have a future in F1 unless they pull out some good results

BMW- I miss them being Sauber. BWM litteraly jsut took the character out and replaced it with "german efficency". Would have liked them if they had chased last eyars title instead of grown mstaches for this season.

Renult- I sort of like Flav in his own stupid way (i mean his wife is FIT) but the guy who runs round the team trying to put it all together is a loser and should be thrown overboard. F1 would be a bit dull without them, but they need to get rif o piquet for someone with some driving talent....

Brawm- I still think of them as tyrrell a little bit (same way RBR are stewart and BMW are sauber in my heart). Never liked the BAR outfit, and Honda didnt really do it for me untill they got Brawn onboard (Fry is the massive exception to this as hes clever guy). I like them this year as they showed some common sense and kept Rubens on. When they ditch him i wont care (not a button fan, hes another one of those bring your dads to work kids).

Still most teams are semi driver related, like prost were awesome with Panis (till he broke his legs) and pretty much every team Rubens has been with have gone up in my standings.

Brawn: Was the first f1 car i saw as a kid (bar) when my dad got me a early birthday present 9pit pass at silverstone :D), Followed them ever since bar>bar-honda> honda>brawn Gp> virgin gp????
Also it's one of the british based teams and theirfore i have some loyalty to them because of that.

Majority of teams are actually based in Britain - Brawn, McLaren, Force India, Red Bull, Torro Rosso, Williams and possibly Renault;)

Torro Rosso still uses is Italian factory :)

Renults design team is still based in the old Benetton factory near oxford (or silverstone i can never remember). Prost/Liger are the last french team ot actually be based in france i think.

I love growing up near Silverstone, pick of the teams to call your local team :D

F1 is to Motorsport what London is to England. Both are seen as representative of said sport and country when in real terms they stand on their own and bare little resemblence to the rest of their sport and country. F1 has always held and interest as a motorsport fan, but not to the same extent as other areas of the sports such as Sports Cars, Historic Racing and good Club events. An F1 has ALWAYS been special but the racing is often poor and the 'sport' often lacking.

I watch F1 but don't really care to much for it or its 'stars' as both are sanatised to such a level that it dilutes the passion. This season I have enjoyed more than many of late but its still hardly compelling.

Ferrari - Can't stand ferrari, in my eyes the sport wouldn;t be any worse off with out them, it always comes across as if they feel the sport owes them something, and is they should receive special treatment from the FIA. I appreciate the heritage that is there, and them being involved from the start. Kimi, is ok seems like he doesn't really bother anymore though, i'm sure he does, but it comes across as if he needs to be provided with a great car, then and only then will he go out drive hard and win some races. Felipe baby, seems like a bit of a pansy, albeit a very good driver, seems like another one who requires a fantastic car to get the job done

Williams - Shame this team are a bit of an also ran now, were very good with damon back in the day. I love the old schoolness of patrick head though, he is cool.

Force India - meh

Toyota - I really dislike toyota, seems like such a corporate, boring and clinical operation, and still they haven't really done that well. Trulli is a quali driver, not a race driver. Glock seems like a very good promising young driver, one to look out for maybe.

BMW - Other meh team in my eyes.

Brawn - Probably my favourite team along with half of the UK. I've always like jenson since he entered formula 1. Seems like a nice guy with his feet firmly attached to the ground. The rare sort of formula 1 driver that acts himself most of the time. I like that. I also love his smooth driving style, fantastic for saving tyres as well.(ive also got an 80/1 bet on him for thw 09 championship, another reason to root for him. Fingers crossed :) ) Quite like barrichello, i like that he is usually smiling, and seems like a genuine nice bloke, as well as a pretty handy driver, was disapointed for him to not win in spain, but i'm sure he'll get a victory at some point this year. Brawn is also an absolute genius. With that man in charge the team, and strategy is always spot on.

Red Bull Racing - Quite like red bull, vettel is going to do well in the future definete world champion material, quite like mark webber, but he doesnt seem all that fast, think he's been pretty lucky this season compared to his team mate.

Renault - Not really that interested in the team. I quite like alonso, i like that he mixes things up a bit, not afraid to get stuck in. And occasionally you see some fantastic driving from him. Piquet, oh dear. I feel sorry for him, but think he's on his last legs really

McLaren - I appreciate that they are british etc, but they don't do themselves many favours when it comes to supporting them. I love the way lewis drives, very aggressive, and you can always see that no matter what car he is in, he is always going to push it 100%, even in a not such a great car he is still faster than most other drivers would be in his situation I think. I admire that. However off the track he annoys me a bit. Such a boring person to interview after a race normally. Heikki, not really bothered about, been dreadfull this season, especially when compared to hamilton, seems like he's another one that can only drive well given a very good car.

Always been more about the drivers. I'm a very patriotic sports fan and have always wanted to see an English/British sportsman do well.

F1 started for me started with Mansell, although I was pretty young then and don't remember much about the 92 season. From 94 onwards I was a massive F1 fan and a massive Hill fan in particular. I hated Schumacher after Adelaide but oddly enough came to be a big fan and admire his talent once he started cleaning up for Ferrari.

Always been a big JB fan even when he was languishing at the back of the grid for Benetton/Renault and latterly with Honda, which makes it even sweeter that his talent has been rewarded with a decent car finally.

Lewis is a bit of an odd one. He's a great driver and was a breath of fresh air when he entered the sport but I've become a bit bored with him. I still think he's in the top 3 drivers on the grid (with Alonso and Raikkonen, when Kimi can be bothered) but he's just a bit bland and over polished. Whereas Button comes across as a decent bloke and a good laugh, you always get the sense with Lewis, or at least did in the two seasons before this, that you weren't getting the true him, and that everything was done for effect and image.

ok fair enough about TR - I thought they used quite a few of the resources from the main RB site , maybe not ;)

I thought Renault where but wasnt 100% sure :D

Out of interest, what do you think Ferrari stand for that is so objectionable?

arrogance and team orders. I think McLaren have over taken them though, certainly on arrogance and probably on team orders. Although it's not as clear cut as Ferrari have been. Just because I don't like them. I certainly don't want them to go.

We the true him this year though, he's just a liar and a cheat :D

I was reading pitpass today at work and was quite suprised the stick he seems to be getting from them right now. The article where he says he feels how a person who goes to jail wrongly would feel...

Then gets slaughtered on the forum

I think lewis just needs a new team of advisors and maybe some distance from his old man. It took a few years for jenson to learn some humility and good manners.

pitpass said:
There was the spy saga which was to cost his team $100m, the in-house feud with Fernando Alonso, the controversial move to Switzerland, the penalty following the 2008 Belgian GP and, most recently, lie-gate.

Let's see ...
Stealing-gate : Lewis was mostly left out of that; media believed him when he said he didn't know and the problems were mainly on McLaren.
Of course chances are Lewis did know what was going on, just like Ron Dennis probably knew.

Alonso Feud : Well to be fair, you are always going to get driver feuds. McLaren totally mis-managed it as a team; but Lewis is not entirely innocent - remember Hungary. Plus let's not forget, Alonso went in thinking he was the no1 driver, and Hamilton is going to be his back up man. While Hamilton did a great job that season, end of the day is his ego so large that in his first season of F1 he could not have played the supporting role to Alonso instead of starting an all-out war in Hungary?

Move to Switzerland : Don't know what to say really. First he says it's for privacy issues. Next it really turns out that it is for tax reasons. While good on him for evading tax, equally what a **** for evading taxes :D

Belgium GP: Not much to say, it's one of those F1 rulings - man up; grow a pair and get over it.

Lie-gate: Well this is certainly his OWN fault, he chose to lie.
