Where does nobody want to holiday?

I've only ever been to Luton once with work. Damn, it looked like the city itself had given up.

I dropped my wife at some huge shopping mall in Luton three years ago, whilst I went to a meeting. She was on the phone to me to pick her up after 45 minutes, having been propositioned three times and mildly sexually assaulted once. She said she'd have felt more comfortable alone in the middle of the night, in Cairo. A worse place is hard to imagine, to me.

:D

I work in Saudi, that's nicer than Luton

Can't come to stoke without taking in the sites of cobridge

You'll certainly see some sights in Cobridge.

I used to live in Cobridge, back when it was a red light district. I've no idea if it still is. I lived there before mass surveillance became endemic, so it was a different time. I worked quite late, so I'd usually be walking home ~2200. I was propositioned (by prostitutes and customers) no end of times. Neither were a problem IME.

You must be a dream come true to the Scottish hotelier and tourism industry ;) Although I do commend your parsimonious attitude to holidaying.

The holiday I remember most fondly was in Scotland. A little village (back then - I've no idea what it is now) called Glenfinnan on the railway line between Fort William and Mallaig. Spectacular countryside, friendly people and a lovely little hotel that was also the village pub and shop.

Here's a picture. Obviously carefully taken to look as good as possible, but the area really does look like this:

Surely that would infer that you looked like a prostitute, if you were propositioned by customers? Either that or they werent fussy :p

Maybe both! :)

I was quite pretty as a young man. Maybe they mistook me for a woman. Maybe they were gay men who found a feminine-looking man appealing. Both those things happened to me in other contexts, so that could be it.

What does a prostitute look like, anyway? There isn't a uniform. Not unless you pay extra :)

At least in Saudi she would know better than to go out without a male accompanying her.

Ah, The Arndale Centre. It was a toilet 30 years ago, I can only imagine it’s like the Bakaara Market from Blackhawk Down these days.
