Where has my folder gone?

We run a small server at work & windows 7 on the pc's. Everyone's Document folders are saved on/pointed to the server.

So, 1 person saved some work to a sub-folder in her My Docs on the laptop, but then said it was not there on her main machine. When I checked, there were a few folders on the laptop but not on her main machine - and they said "not synced" under properties...

So, (foolishly by the look of it) I highlighted the folder and said sync....and the folder then just disappeared off the laptop...*poof*...vanished :(

Why? Where has it gone? and, more importantly is it recoverable?
 
Freaky, bro!

Does the machine have System Restore enabled? You could use previous versions (right click properties the parent folder) to restore it if so.
 
Just checked on the server, right clicked her folder "No previous versions saved" :(

I guess the sub-folder has gone then...

It was only this morning we were saying that we should set a backup of the server...

Why on earth did it delete it anyway when I just asked it to sync?
