If GT3s aren't offering great value for money currently then why not get something different but still interesting for a bit until Porsches settle back down? I know you're not a V8 Vantage fan but how about the V12? That engine in something so compact has a lot going for it. Or different again Merc SLS? Both cars will be an event in their own way and both are rare enough that they aren't going to drop off a cliff value wise.
Surely if you get a 991 one you are just going to go 'hmm this is no GT3' after a few weeks.
I think right there is the core issue. I think the modern 991 has lost something. It's faster, more capable and better equipped than ever before, but it's lost something in all that. It's grown up and now offers a different experience. If you want a 911 it's superb and frankly head and shoulders above the previous models, but if you want that 911 experience dating back to day 1, it's lost a big chunk of that, more so than any new model in my book. It's gone a bit closer to a GTR and it bit further away from a 911 and that is a shame. New GT3 is out of this world epic, but like most modern cars it's very very very fast but misses something, though is still epic and I'd bite your hand off if they were 100K and not 150K
Going to have a go in a 991 GTS 2 as people I know and respect have been telling me this is the one to get and there are deals out there if you're serious.
