Where is PC gaming going?

Almost all the games that are released on consoles end up on PC anyway.

Hence we will be playing those games on PC even if they are console ports.
Console games are developed on PC anyway. So PCs will be around.

There are still games being developed on PC first, Battlefield 3 being one of them:cool:

Why the piracy lark, i could understand if someone had a credible argument but there is just as much on the consoles, why is that always the first fact forgotten?

I know blizzard sing about their inflated 11 million WoW numbers but we all know the real truth and when steam also sings about 4 million recently we also know that that is just people turning their PC's on as steam starts with windows and it's not exactly 4 million playing games. Deus Ex HR for PC claims it only sold 90K compared to 400Kt the xbox360 sold yet steam only ever shows a max of 35K played at peak. So why are the publishers even bothering.
Is there a real, substantial future with PC gaming or is the convergence of console gaming with all the services they now provide, the future ?

The football manager games and World of Warcraft, and soon the Star wars MMO(hopefully) will keep the PC heart ticking away, and obviously the hardcore FPS gamers who can't get used to a pad yet.

However, I think the next generation of consoles will kill it as far as new releases go.

It will return to it's routes. Classic adventure games, word processing etc...(though the smartphones might challenge this) and the best internet experience will be around for sometime.

Just my opinion.

Look, everyone needs a PC for work, emails etc etc. Nobody NEEDS a console. PCs will always be around and so PC gaming will always exist. Consoles on the other hand....they could die out if they aren't careful....or they may turn into PCs...but with none of the advantages.

Edit. davewhite04 lolwhut? Hardcore FPS belongs on the PC. Mouse and Keyboard will NEVER be beaten by a pad with sticks. PC Gaming is so much more than MMOs and RTS. Its Indies (look at Team Meat sold PC to Consoles 2:1) and modding and quirky ridiculous ideas.

consoles will never die cause kids and dumb folk and lazy folk need games systems with a power on and play, plug n play.

The average dude cant be installing games, fixing order, updating patches, modifying stuff. setting resolutions etc..etc.

Even the PS3 is so complicated for many non technological people.

The amount of dudes I have made there ps3 in 1080p mode etc. is unbeleivable. ANd they been playing for years on like 480p or whatever crap. Then I put in 1080p mode and they are like wow this is amazing how you do that. Oh wow thats real complicated lol

The question should be ' where is humanity going ? '. PC gaming has a bleak future because we have a bleak future. There seems to be a group of men who are hell bent on bankrupting every Western nation so they have to abide to a Central or rather World Bank and its rules.

Lol, me too.

Went over to my mates house before we went to the pub, he stuck his PS3 and COD MW2 on and i started playing it ( i hadnt seen the ps3 version).

I looked at him and i laughed. Playing COD MW2 on a 40" Samsung 1080p TV in 576p rez.
I changed it to 1080p and i gave the pad to him and told him to play the game as it should be played.

Doing that backfired as we were late getting to the pub by 3 hours. Couldnt get the sod off his ps3 after i done that :)
