Hi, was play fighting with my little sister when the little bitch snapped my glasses, not too bothered as they are really old and I normally wear contacts but it gives me a excuse to go out and a buy a pair or two specs.

Which high street shop would you recommend? for the most upto date style, cheapest prices etc, I know it's probably best buying online as it will inevitably be cheaper but I'd rather goto a shop to see how it looks on me and get the correct fit.

So where do I go chaps? Should I goto specsavers? :D

Before i had laser eye treatment i used Vision Express, while they may not be the cheapest around the service was excellent.

If you have your prescription you can order online, I think for stupidly low prices (£10 including lenses)
Yeah I have prescription but ordering something like glasses online wouldn't be right for me as I can only tell what it looks like once arrived and I might not like them.

Someone told me about a site in America they get theirs delivered for a stupidly low price, requires the exact prescription though. I'll try and remember the site too...

At £12.50 a pair, you can just order a load and see if you like them, even if you only love one pair, it'll still probably cost you less than most highstreet opticians. http://www.goggles4u.com/

If you're worried, do a bit of measuring of your noggin before hand.

Specsavers are the cheapest on the highstreet i think, decent designs and 30% discount for students too.

My prescription + frames + anti-reflective lenses cost me £90, which isn't *too* bad, but obviously you can get them much cheaper online, but it's not as easy as buying from the highstreet.

Ace site.

I just bought a new pair from them, £59 + £30 anti-reflective coating BUT it's 25% discount at the moment so way < £80 all in :D And the bonus of buying from a shop is that you can try them on before you buy so you get something you don't mind.. the service was cool, ready in an hour too.

Ordered loads of pairs from all the various £12 - £20 online optic shops and no complaints so far.

Specsavers likely the cheapest high street option though.

oooo you lot are so handy. Iv been wantin a few new pairs of goggs cos im sick of forgetting to take a pair home, forgetting to take a pair to uni, and then being to lazy to get them out my uni bag when im at my flat!
Might have to go get my eyes checked again and then get a few pairs ordered online!

Just thought I'd report back on this pair I ordered from http://www.goggles4u.com/ .

They came this morning, in the oddest package I've ever recieved. It was sent from Pakistan, and was wrapped in a cotton bag rather than paper or cardboard, and the bag was sewn shut and sealed with two drops of wax! The glasses themselves were wrapped in cotton wool, placed inside their hard plastic case, and then packaged inside a polystyrene box.

Also inside the case was a little precision screwdriver kit, a spare pair of the nose pad thingys, a couple of minute screws, and a lens cleaning cloth.

The glasses themselves are pretty perfect. They're a good fit, light and the prescription seems spot-on. The lenses are a little thick since I chose the default 'thin' option with the CR39 material, but my prescription is only -3.25 and -3.50 and they're not milk bottles by any means. If you have a strong prescription it would probably be best to choose the 'Thinner' option, tho it's double the price for the CR39, and triple the price for the mineral glass.

Overall I'm well chuffed with my £12.34 gleeks :D

I hadn't a clue what it was going to be when I opened it. I was praying that it didn't go bang.

Actually I'd better edit out the phone number.
