Due to yet more relationship troubles I've decided to get away for a couple of weeks. Never been to the US before and always wanted to go.

Budget would be £1500 each (2 people travelling)

I'd like to see the sights and have an awesome time!

I'm really rubbish at planning holidays so hook me up people :)

I went to Florida, orlando May 2009 and loved it. I didn't think I would because it was full of americans and commercial. I only met one A-hole american, it was a Subway sandwich worker...

San Fransico? New York? Origeon trail? Yellowstone? Vegas? New orleans if you like Jazz I guess? Graceland?

West Coast :D

Hire a convertible, start in San Diego, travel up to San Francisco up PCH or start in SF and travel down. Both awesome.

Stop off in Santa Barbara, if it's after April 6th, say hi to me :p

Does the £1500 include flights?

Edit - Also like how you put to have a awesome time as a posed to going on holiday to have a purposely bad time.

Someone was telling me about a 2 week trip they did to the US, New York -> Philadelphia -> Atlantic City.

Would love to do that myself one time, but I'm already going to NY on Sunday and Vegas in September so can't fit it in :x

Can you get any info on that trip? Costs etc?

They didn't mention costs but I think they booked it all separately.

Think the flight was just a return to Newark and then they bussed it between places.

I imagine the best thing would be to go to a travel agent and see what they can throw together for you (if you don't mind spending extra and don't want to sort it all out separately yourself).

I went through an independant agent she organised the flights and hotels. Costs me £600 for flights, including 2 weeks accommodation on International Drive, Orlando!

I would recommend Orlando to anyone to try at least once. Not everyoned cup of tea but it's popular for a reason :)

Also a villa is well worth it, a lot better than a hotel, even if there is only 2 of you and they sleep 8+ :D You just need to be over 21 and driving for 3 years IIRC as you really want your own car. I've booked mine and the GFs trips separatly the past 3 years so let me know if you're interested. £1500 each + spends will go a long way :)

i agree with this , ive been to san francisco for a week in 1999 and it was great , there is so much to see and do there , if you want to stay in 1 place san francisco is perfect.

as for sights you have alcatraz, pier39 , golden gate bridge , and plenty more i only had a week there but you could travel somewhere else for a week

West coast is awesome and not that touristy especially Washington state and Oregon. Astoria is fab although highlight of my trip was Timberline Lodge, my god that place is amazing :) Was external location for "The Shining".

havent been to the west coast, but i can recommend a fly drive on the east coast. Lots to take in from Boston to Washinton DC.

Niagara falls is brill, as is toronto as is cape cod.....

Too many fantastic places to just pick a couple.
