Which 360 game

I would say GOW, but i dont play online with my 360. So GOW was a very short game for me, already completed it on casual and hardcore and got rid of it!

You've hit the nail on the head there GoW is a very very short game on anything other than insane. On the other two difficulties you can just run up to enemies and melee attack them (use the torque bow for this!!!!). On insane you have to use cover a lot more and (like online play) you die a lot more if you stay visible for too long. Hardcore and vcasual difficultuies make this a very crap game imo.

Yes, COD2 is a lot better than 3 IMO! Objectives in COD3 don't seem as challenging as COD2.

Still there are some seriously hard bits on COD 3 (veteran). I was just about to go through the game on veteran myself before wrapping all my pressies up :)

I don't like a game to be TOO hard personally. If it starts to frustrate me I'll just turn it off, I just want to sit back on my sofa and mooch through a game, I don't want to redo the same section 30 times just to get to the next bit.

Same here - I usually play on the easy or normal setting which is usually hard enough for my liking. Some games get pretty tough on those settings in the later stages :p

Vegas without a shadow of doubt. Gears is too short, has no story but damn pretty. No depth to the gameplay at all.

Its without doubt the most over rated game I've ever played. Sure its great but not that good. Every level is the same, not enough weapons, half of them you dont even need.

They say on here in every other thread its all about the gameplay and not GFX well GOW has little gameplay.

Vegas is the exact opposite.

Buy vegas and pick GOW off some chump in 3 weeks when no one is playing it anymore.

It is a sign of being old apparently :p

Gears of War for sure. Gears of War has chainsaws to the face, but if thats not enough it does look unbeliebavle. Dont get Vegas, it should never have been released and as for the gameplay, its completely pants. The cover system is awful, you can get killed by 'blind enemies' so much because you cant see them or reach round to shoot them fast enough. It is not a very polished game either, way too many bugs and the AI is rubbish. The general story in Vegas is very poor as well, also for some bizarre reason a really annoying lady keeps giving you news broadcasts while you are in the middle of a gunfight - 'quick save the hostages, but before you go police have rioters under control now'. If you have Xbox live vegas is worth a look but as a single player game its lacking in so many areas, gears might be short (not that much than vegas) but it is a polished game game with fluid gameplay, its not annoying to play and the varieties of enemies is welcomed.

Also to the poster who claims the guns in gears are underpowered, I shot someone 3 times in the chest with the highest powered assault rifle in the game yet he was still running around at which point I cursed at the screen. In Gears you just have to be skilled to use them, waiting for the right moment to pop out and get someone with a shotgun or time headshots just right is key, its also a game about movement, moving and taking cover at the right times, in rainbow you can just 'camp' at th top of the ladder and the terrorists will be jumping over each other to climb up it.

If you dont like doing the same bit '30 times over' then avoid Vegas because theres just so many scripted moments, but couple that with the totally erratic enemy and team AI and you will be doing parts at least several times over.

GoW 4tw especially with live 8 man servers 4v4, will keep you busy for a very long time. especially if you want those 50 gamer points for 10,000 kills on a ranked server!

Vegas, its not the tactical game that R6 used to be, but its good fun for a console game. GoW is good if your into games where you empty a clip to get a kill, unfortunately im not really into that sorta thing. Its really well amde though.

Killed by blind enemies, thats not a game bug thats because your pants at it. I can see them and shoot them fast enough, you like the cross up with where they are BEFORE you poke your head out. I kill everyone with 2 or 3 bullets. Thats because i'm good at it ;)

You say GOW needs well timed head shots, ever thought of doing that in Vegas :p

Vegas has the best AI i've seen in a game of this kind, the enemies will successfully flank you. I've also had them pin with down with blind fire to stop me rescuing a downed team mate or to hold me in position while they try a flank.

In gears you can poke your head out and just trade fire til the circle goes deep red then duck, you do that in vegas and your dead.

Erratic team AI? I take it you played GOW without the bots because they are worse than useless. I can use the team in Vegas with successfull results, I rarely even have to patch them up. In GOW you can be fighting and old cole will just stand there or other times just run right at a troika.

The enemy AI in GOW aint all that, often they run at you then run away when then have you dead. Jumping over the wall at you then jumping back over. You also get a nice announcement before they do anything. They may as well give a 20 second warning before they fire.

Yep in vegas you have to do sections over at times, thats because the game is tough in places. If you dont like that in games watch a movie or a string of cut scenes. The reason GOW doesnt need 30 re-tries is because the game is woefully easy. I did it in about 4 and a bit hours front to back. In SP there is only imo two difficult places. The troika section in act 1 or two where you kill the troika and have to get on it fast before the emergence hole opens and the top of the train when you troika riders on nemasyst type thingies. Thats only hard in sp. In multi the only tough bits even on insane are the carts and seeder in act 4.

The lean system in Vegas is flawed, if you are at a door way there is a side which you can not see and enemies can shoot you from there, so instead of leaning you just have to gradually side step round.

The enemies in Vegas are poor, they just seem like obstacles where as in Gears they are ruthless, they are out to kill you and are up for the challenge. Infact most of the terrorists in Rainbow are just campers, waiting to be killed.

Also from what I have played, the so called tactical shooter that is rainbow six is actually just a frag fest online but the 'run and gun' gears is far more team work orientated which is more satisfying.

i have not yet played rainbow 6 vegas, but i did find the co-op on GoW really good fun, so much more enjoyable than single player, and a lot more sociable too, especially when doing it via live.

I'll assume the OP has already made their purchase, but just to be different and as children were mentioned I'd say.....

Viva Pinata :D

No seriously though GOW is very good but not a game to be playing with young children around, and although not quite as bad both Vegas and COD3 aren't exactly 'family entertainment'.

Out of those 3 mentioned Vegas IMO is the better game, with GOW a close 2nd, but I'd still go for Viva Pinata as it's so damm addictive..

Actually really depends on what type of shooters you prefer, There all just as good as each other. Which do you prefer out of WWII, tactical or alien??

Then just pick the corresponding title really!

Is there any reason it specifically has to be one of those 3? I'd be a bit wary of going for FPS titles as the first ones you buy if you've been a pc gamer, as the feel of the control pad is totally different to that of a keyboard and mouse.

Gears of War, for now, seems to be holding up as a good multiplayer game, however that will change when the next big multiplayer FPS comes out ;). I believe you can turn off the gory stuff, although it is still a bit disturbing to watch!

If you want multiplayer, right now I'd go for GoW. If you want single player, I'd probably look towards Rainbow 6, as Tom Clancy stories are generally good and well developed.

I have only played Gears of War and it is quite short. I am enjoying playing it over live but that will probably die down once the next big title comes out, like GRAW 2. (An unfortunate side affect of Live! is that the online player numbers dwindle very quickly.) Usually I wouldn't pick up a Rainbow Six title as I prefer the story and style of Splinter Cell, but I believe that this one is slightly different style to the older games. As for Call of Duty 3...how many times are we going to play through the second world war?

Hi

im sorry i haven't responded sooner, been too busy getting the kids Chrisrmas pressies in.

Funnily enough i haven't purchased either of these games yet. I am going into town today to purchase one and a steering wheel for PGR3. I have only been able to get a few hours on the 360 whilst the kids were asleep, but in that time i downloaded R6: Vegas and thought to myself WOW. It definitely makes you think about every move you make unlike playing ET on the pc where its guns blazin.

I play on a 37" toshiba HDTV and even with the rig i have this 360 blows that out of the water.

So really its between gears of war and R6?.

Is cod3 bad?. what's the muiltiplayer like in it and OH, i really wish they'd bring a mouse and keyboard device to the 360 as getting used to a control pad feels un-natural

Thanks for the replies guys. It is a hard decision indeed but at least ive came to the conclusion that i need to buy them all :D

You can bet your bottom dollar Gears of War will blow you and anyone else who see's it away on that TV of yours. Also for your kids, its better they see aliens and big bug type things getting shot rather than other humans isnt it? The tangos in Vegas do swear at you as well.

In that case I would recommend Gears as it is a 3rd person shooter so its probably easier to control than FPS games with the controller.

Also to Vixen, have you played Vegas? I very much doubt Tom Clancy had anything to do with the story, its very poorly done imo.
