In that case I would recommend Gears as it is a 3rd person shooter so its probably easier to control than FPS games with the controller..

The team on GOW swear all the time, I wouldn't want kids around either game TBH.

I found both games easy to control. I'm a big fan of 3rd over first but even found vegas easy to get to grips with.

Yeah, its an 18 for a reason. If it is something you are worried about use the ratings as a guide. Although for Gears, you can turn off swearing and gore (which I haven't done myself so I don't know how toned down it gets) but it still has chainsawing people and blowing them up. And the others have shooting in them too.

I've not played it, but I said Tom Clancy games are generally good

. There is more likely to be a story behind it than Gears of War - which I've watched my boyfriend play, and doesn't seem to have much depth at all.

Gears of War has little story as they are making it a trilogy so they use this excuse and claim that all will be revealed to you soon... So we will get 3 copies of a similar game (new improvements at the next installment) and all will sell well because of the popularity of the first one.
