Which 64 bit o/s

True, but then since XP64 has proven to me on the games I play, to be faster than Vista64, being a gamer for me, its a no brainer to go with XP64.

LOL Ok, the biggest bug-bear for me is that so many people seem to be of the kind that go with option 1 over Option 2 because option 1 gives a massive 150FPS while option 2 lags well behind with only 149FPS - thats a really annoying thing, and with the tests I have done, even though XP64 has come out ahead in almost all the performance tests, its been by a very small ammount.

The benefits of Vista are more than those of XP64 - on newer hardware.

On older hardware, this is not always the case and there is a lot of PCs out there that will be much worse off with Vista.

I saw some stats the other day with Vista SP1 vs XP SP2 and SP3.

They are much of a mucness. With next gen I mean the next generation not the current one now. I'm on about all of the Direct X 10.1 graphics cards and considering as many games are now moving to support it (Age Of Conan / Lord of the Rings Online / Assassins Creed / etc) we should be seeing some stunning games sooon.

I have always said though, that if you are building a new PC and oyu have no O/S then there can never be any doubt that the O/S you MUST go with, simply has to be VISTA 64

Vista32 is a ridiculous option for a new PC, I mean, do they still even make 32Bit CPUs?

But, if you already have a PC, then chosing Vista64 is not always the best option for your PC... There are still plenty ofd 64Bit PCs that are not exactly the cutting edge these days, and its on those, that XP64 will give you the benefits of a 64Bit O/S, but will still allow you to have better performance than you will get with 32Bit XP.

( Then again, Im still one of those who say there is nothing wrong with Windows 2000, and in fact, I had a customer only last week still running 95 and having no issues at all - naturally I told her that its only a matter of time, but for now, if her PC does what she needs it to, then thats great )

Im going from an XP 32 bit system (H/W in Sig) adding another 2 gig ram and sticking on Vista 64, any special tips for the instal (apart from updating the drivers obviously)
