My gaming PC is in the bedroom and sometimes I game at night while the Mrs is sleeping. I currently have a 7970 with the Arctic cooling Accelero Xtreme after market cooler which is pretty much dead on silent and performance is good at 1440p with a few options turned off (MSAA) but I think it's time to move up in the graphics card world and just go all in for a 780ti.
Doubt the wf3 is any noisier than that under normal operation - atleast mine is impossible to hear outside the case until it hits ~60% fan speed and normally doesn't get faster than high 30s.
Seriously need to ditch the kuhler - the psu runs passive upto 250watt and is pretty much silent until it hits 80% load, case fans are apaches on min speed, etc. the pump noise is by far the most noticeable thing from my pc.
The OP has already appeared to have bought the EVGA card (going by post #34).
Yep same reason I ditched the kuhler for a NoctuaMuch better temps too.
Good choice, hope it works out ok for you.Yeah that's right, I was all set on being the windforce one but stumbled across a 3 month old evga 780ti superclock for a really nice price so I decided to give that a try first and see how I get on with it.
Something like the D14, Alpenfohn k2 or a silver arrow of some sort would be a nice addition. Running a k2 with dual PWM corsair sp 120's here. Pretty quiet when gaming and deathly silent at idle.Temps I can't fault - outside of "quiet" mode it will tail ambient temps within 1-2C which is pretty impressive would be good for benchmarking if not using exotic cooling. But the pump noise on this 1250 is like a small fridgeseeing as everything else in the case is pretty close to silent in normal opeation I'll probably go back to a decent air cooler when I get around to it.
