I have a max of £350 to spend and I was looking heavily at the HIS that Stulid did a great review on, but unfortunately I can't find it around anywhere now, so has anyone got any ideas on the same sort of card/spec/inputs etc...
I will possibly look into eyefinity in the future. I am running on a samsung S23A700D @1920 x 1080 @ 120 Hz
I may overclock depending on cooling but I basically want it to run BF3/BF4,Project Cars and some new releases all maxed out.
I currently have a 6870 1GB
I also have a Samsung 2233BW as an info monitor when gaming which is handy but this means I may need a DVi on the card or a bundled connector like the HSI card had.

I have the windforce, slightly better than stock and really quiet, definitely quieter than your average twin fan card.

Thanks guys for the input, will probably order on Tuesday or Wednesday as no one at home so a bit of time left yet :)
Yeah its strange that you can't buy the HIS 7970 Turbo anywhere, I looked all over too :)

Though I think the Gigabytes are voltage locked?
Go for HIS as people here clock them at brilliant speed..

+1 they are which means it runs at full 1.25v at full clocks

unlocked voltage you'd be able to run the same clocks with much less voltage than the gigabyte card

and yeah go for the non ghz version, mine came with 925mhz core and 1375mhz memory and oc'd it to 1050core 1500mhz without touching voltages(stock 1.112v)

So the HIS 7970 is unlocked?
Been reading about people getting a lot out of the HIS 7950 , if I could get near the 1200/1600 that they claim, that would be a bonus.

yh the his is

you can overclock the gigabyte also but the thing is it wil run at 1.25v no matter what, you wouldn't be able to lower the voltage = less heat

The cheaper version of the HIS 7970 on OCUK is voltage locked i think. The more expensive version (which Stulid reviewed and Gibbo owns, but is not for sale on ocuk) is not voltage locked.

So in theory the His 7950 Boost would clock better than both?

Edit: Seems like the choice of 7970's is limited everywhere these days, also the free games.
Must be making room for the 8 series

Well i think they're both voltage locked at 1.25v so either could potentially clock well. It depends on the luck of the draw as to how much voltage they actually require to run at stock clocks and that comes down to asic which you won't know until you order the card. Statistically the 7970 will improve your chances of getting a better clocker, but it still comes down to luck of the draw.

One other thing to consider, the 7950 has lower brand memory so the 7970 will clock better on that front.

I didn't know the his was locked?

I know the sapphire cards aren't,or any of the msi

I hope this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass but im 99% sure the HIS 7970 OCUK sell is the cheaper version and is voltage locked at 1.25v.
