Looking to upgrade my yamaha rx 673 as it is not passing the 4K signal :(
I am liking the pioneer atm,Don`t want to spend too much over £400
opinions please:)

Is there any reason why you are not looking into the Denon AVR X2400H? It rated higher on which? (if you trust which?) and a few other sites. I know very little, genuinely asking out of interest in case i'm missing something as I was considering the RXV583 also.

No real reason my last 2 amps were/are Yamaha(A1 lasted me 13 years and my current RX673 is only being upgraded replaced because i just got a new 4k tv and it won`t pass-through)
Will take a look at the Denon thanks :)

The Denon 2200/2300/2400 have won best AVR under 500 the last 3 years for a reason. This year you can throw the Sony 1080 in the mix, but I'd not consider any of your choices.

Yeah looking like the Denon is the one to go for
Hope it is as reliable as the Yamaha`s i have had previously :)

The Sony is a bit more than i want to spend tbh
I remember splashing £1600 on my A1 back in the day tooooo much even though i thought it was great at the time

Are you sure the RXV-673 won't pass through 4k?
Specification page says "4k Ultra-HD pass-through". You would need to change your HDMI mode from mode 2 to mode 1 (hidden setting on my RXV-581 and had to be changed on the front panel, couldn't be done via remote or app).

Literally looking at the 2400 for the parents front room as a replacement to a failed Pioneer.

This, after redoing all the cabling properly whilst they had decorators in. I came to finish & fit the new banana plugs to the newly laid cables and connect up to their Pioneer amp. I noticed it popped up with a Firmware update (everything working fine at this point - all channels outputting audio fine), tried said Firmware update and it keeps coming up Error 1-83 at around 9% which seems to be a generic failure error across Pioneer/Onkyo amps and has now bricked it - No sound at all. I tried factory resetting it and running through initial setup again but no test tones coming out. Peeved as it was working fine literally minutes before.

Said to parents the amp is sadly bricked due to the flawed Firmware update and they should look at a Denon 2400 as has won awards for how good an amp it is. Will be sending the Pioneer back to Amazon and ordering the Denon at the same time.

How did you find the 673 after the A1?
Still using my old AX1 here but really looking to update to something with hdmi

Sorry for the late reply guys:o
Cannot`t get the 673 to bypass the 4k signal it always defaults it to 1920X1080
673 is not HDCP 2.2 i think:(

I `think` the issue is 1.4hdcp on the 673?and tv is 2.2 hdcp

The 673 has a lot lesspower(oomph):D than the A1 it replaced but has more up to date connections like hdmi and DTS HD etc, also the A1 was getting on in life i had issues in the end with the digital card inside and the display.Cost me £100 to have the display resoldered and the card looked at,in the end it did not last and audio kept dropping out
