Which AV amp should i go for?

There is about a foot above 4 inches behind and about 6 inches eiter side
my A1 had a fan that I never got to work as it was always cool.and the yamaha was cool too

No S*** Sherlock:eek:
Toasty indeed.Just got my banana plugs today and have set it all up
Been `playing` with various settings for an hour or so and it is very hot
Think i will rig some sort of fan over the amp, dread to think how hot it would get in the cupboard with the doors closed:eek:

I have 2x 120mm fans directly under mine now. It was measuring 60c on the casing, just a little toasty lol. It's been fine like that for 10 years now but as I discovered the heat damaged a part of the amp that luckily I never used ; the component input/output board is knackered, snow and squiggly lines all over the shop. Whoops.

Putting it in a cupboard is a terrible idea. You wouldn't do that to your pc right? and that has far better cooling.

The heat that Denon and Marantz amps put out is the only thing that puts me off them, even with the 5 year warranty on them. I'm going for another Yamaha this time, my current one gets barely warm.

Yeah i know what you mean,my previous Yamaha's barely got warm
Measured this Denon last night and after about 3 hours the temps were 40oC

That's pretty toasty. Normal for them though apparently.
This. I have an AX4000 & a 2808 before that, both are & were heaters. I do have a heath Robinson cooling solution for mine though. I usually have my 'pseudo' HTPC on at the same time as the Denon, so I've got a Molex lead sticking out of the back of said PC, that's got a molex to 3 pin fan adaptor connected to it & a Noctua 140mm case fan at the other end. That lies on top of the Denon during operation & it draws the heat off. OK, I run the risk of drawing more dust into the amp that way, but its on a couple of hours a month anyway & it's not like the Denon is new, if it goes pop due to too much dust I'll 'upgrade'

Me again
Bought a `4K switch` to take feeds from my htpc,bd player, freesat box to the new amp
Was only a cheapy and picture keeps dropping out(seems to be more often with high quality videos)
Direct cable from pc to amp,All fine
so i reckon cheap switch is at fault
Anyone recommend a 4k switch that they know works please:)

I shan't comment on my Denon 2400 amp location (it does run hot but has vents below)

Does anyone find the denon 2400 a bit annoying on start up? E.g. When I turn on the sound will come out of the xbox channel but not the picture. Once I've flicked over the channel once it's perfectly fine.
It also often starts in the setup menu even when I don't want it to?
