Which Caddy?

I know nothing about them but I have a spare HD that I would like to use for backups for both my laptop and my desktop

Which seems to be most popular ? anybody got a recommendation?

Which is the best software for backing up a drive as an image so I never have to re-install windows again on each of my systems?

IcyBox caddies come recommended.

Random stuff you install builds up over time, even when you uninstall them, and slows the OS down. It's why a fresh install is so much quicker than an old install you've had for a few years.
