Which Camera

In the nicest possible way, you're all over the place here. You're looking at full frame DSLRs, APR-C mirrorless, Micro 4:3 options which were released over the span of more than a decade. They're all very different and if you choose one over another you should be sure about why.

My recommendation based on what you've said here would be an APS-C mirrorless camera with a flip screen, something specifically aimed at vloggers. Canon M50 Mk. II, Sony ZV-E10, Fuji X-S10 and similar. Go to a camera shop and get your hands on some of them and it'll be apparent to you which is best suited to your needs.

Totally.

We don't know how much importance you / OP place on Vlogging or photo, how often you go hiking and how often the camera will go with you on hikes.

Each thing you do will push you to a different camera. Plus there is personal preference.

Personally, I would avoid M4/3, that's just me, physics means it's not as good ISO performance and not as nice bokeh.
I would also skip the older DSLR range, I know there is value there and on paper it is best bang for buck, but it is also a dead end. If it is one camera to do a job and will always be it then it's fine. If this is a start of a photography/vlogging journey then I would avoid. So I would go with a modern, in production system, even if the body itself is older, a couple of generations older.

Or just use your phone, an iphone's video capabilities is so good that you don't need a gimbal.

Sony ZV-1 + the wood hand grip + a RODE external mic with wind cover is one hell of a good video set-up for the money.
And its ok for photos.

You are still at Square 1 as they are both very different "cameras"

They are. I think I’ll go with the G9. I’ve held one really like it and the staff in the camera shop were really helpful. As I’m looking to get into photography more it gives me more options with lenses and accessories.

Thats not really micro four thirds at least for photography imo. Your limited with artistic creative effects imo. Again may as well use a modern iphone.

My phone doesn’t take good photos. I’d rather use a phone for its intended purpose. A camera for that purpose.

Thats cool, but the camera is about iphone quality.
I think the issue we have, is you don't know enough about photography etc. to know whats going to be important or not. Thats possibly why the G9 looks good to you, looks and feels the part, but personally I'd just rather use a modern phone. You CAN take great pictures with a phone.

That’s the whole point of the thread. I’m getting into photography.

Lumix S9 is worth a look. Does everything you need (not ideal for wildlife though due to size and no mech shutter) and seems to be crazy cheap regularly.

I got one for £600 with a lens before Xmas.

Flip out screen, 6K open gate video, excellent AF.

Considering budget constraints, this looks like the best all around suggestion so far.
