My card appears to have gone boom last night. I turned the PC off and then turned it back on this morning and no graphics! I checked my monitor on another PC and its fine, tried a different monitor on my PC and no graphics. I've yanked the card out, cleaned it and the put it back in - no joy.

I don't play games any more, but I do watch a lot of videos and especially DVD's on my PC. I use a 19" TFT @ 1280x1024. It must be a PCI-E card.

I really would prefer to stay this side of £80 as I don't need a high-performance gaming card. As long as it can pump out DVD's and other videos at high quality without frame loss then I will be happy.

So please suggest me a card!

How important is noise? Would you rather it was passive?

This is pretty expensive for a 7300 GT (7600 GT only a few quid more!) but the cooler should be pretty quiet and hits your budget:
OcUK Galaxy GeForce 7300 GT Superclocked SILENT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-005-GL)
£82.24

As your not bothered about gaming performance you could just get a passive/heatsink 7300 GT DDR2 for £50ish but they are a fair bit slower than DDR3 versions.

I know its over budget .. .but still worth a look for your intended use ...

There is no ponit getting the 7600GT as he doesnt game.
I suggested the X1600pro due to the HDMI support which he can use.

exactly my point!

the 1600 is suggested and yet u can have a faster card for less!

lol apologies for the mistake!
The 7600GT is pointless for the OP, as its inferior to the X1600pro for the OP's intended use.

So yes the Sapphire X1600 Pro HDMI/SPDIF 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO HDTV/HDCP/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-125-SP)
is the better choice, as it supports HDMI.

Did you not read the OP's statement.
He doesnt game, he may as well get a 7300GT instead of a 7600GT as they offer the same features, at less cost.

The only reason i mentioned the X1600pro HDMI, was specifically for the HDMI support. Do any Nvidia cards support this?

HDMI is an industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI provides the optimal interface between any audio/video source, such as a DVD player, set-top box or A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV) or PC monitor, over a single cable.
I thought this may be usefull to the OP, so mentioned that specific card, as HDMI is supported.
