Hi,

Undecided on which card I should go for at the around £200 mark (Max 250), I'm upgrading from a GTX 470. I also currently have an i5 760 and 4gb RAM, but I will be upgrading to Haswell soon and have 8gb RAM.

I think it's between the 7950 and 660Ti?

My usage will be gaming, currently at 1680x1050. But may upgrade my monitor to 1980xn in a while. I'd like the card to last 3-5 years.

Oh and I have a 650w PSU so nothing which will use all my power!

Thanks :)

Blimey either card will have no trouble maxing out almost every game at that res.

Would be my choice, and its on offer atm.

isn't the 760Ti due on the 9th? It might shake up some prices a bit just as the 770 did with the 680/7970, unless of course the 670 is already at that new price point in which case the 760Ti might be just over your price bracket.

Defiantly worth waiting a little while before making a decision in my opinion.

October, along with BF4 is the earliest estimate.

Ah okay, I don't think I'll wait that long :p

This ones the best(used both) of the above:

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M) £245.99

Thanks.

If that's the case I think I'll wait maybe till next month, 760Ti might be the one to go for, we'll see :)

Hi again,

Just bumping this thread now that the GTX 760 has been released.

After reading some reviews and opinions on here, I think I will still go for the 7950? (My requirements etc in OP)

Unless anyone disagrees (:p), I can't decide which 7950 boost to go for, MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost or HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST.

Which one is best in terms of noise / heat? I might overclock, not sure.

Both are great cards. If you go with a single card go with the msi, if you plan to add another later for crossfire get the his.

I seriously advise you to overclock that 7950, its free performance.

Thanks for the advise, yeah I think I'll overclock it :)

It's very unlikely that I will go crossfire so will go for the MSI, but those two fans aren't too noisy are they?

Should be fairly quiet up to around 60%. The his fan gets loudish at 75%. The his is probably quieter but i would speculate that on average the msi will overclock slightly further as at extreme clocks the two fans will cool better than one blower type fan.

Great thanks :)

Really? What problems?

That might be something to do with the old revision? I notice "NEW REVISION" in the title :p

Yes there are still lots of people having problems with new revision.

I see some people ordering 3 and all of them faulty.

Also overclockers still sends out old revision even though it says new in the tittle which doesn't help things.

I nearly ordered 3 when they were £230 with 5 free games and glad I didn't in the end after reading how many people had to send them back.

I thought that problem was fixed?

Hmm well you can always go for the HIS 7950 Ice-Q instead then. I have two and they're nice cards.
