Which Console Should I Get

I owned a PS3 , but sold it. Thought it was over-rated.

I experienced horrendous lag on Motorstorm online.

R6V was laggy too.

Incidently I have 4MB connection.

I understand that PSN dedicated servers aren't laggy but I never tried these.

Didnt notice any online lag on Motorstorm, and there is no lag on warhawk, even on guys private servers on here.

Just do what we all do OP, but them all, its the only way to enjoy all the good games and stay out of the fanboy comments :)

Im currently playing Warhawk on the PS3, Stuntman and Moto GP on the 360, Stuntman being my current favorite, which is available on both PS3 and 360, it will be interesting to find out whether the ps3 version is better/worse than the 360 version.

ps3 - tekken 5 dr £6.99
warhawk, GT HD Demo is great too.

if you search hard enough i bet you can get an usused ps3 for like under £300. i onmyl paid, £250 2nd hand but all still sealed etc.

Has the OP actually posted back in this thread ?

Back to the original question ...

I have all 3. If i had to get rid of them all but one, the one i'd keep would be the 360.

Decide what games you like better
Gears of war or resistance for example, remember that GoW is coming out on pc soon with 6 new chapters so if you have a reasonable pc you may not want to view this as a selling point.

Halo 3 and Mass Effect are the only games i am looking forward to on the 360 coming in the near future,
On the ps3 however you have a lot (imo) better lineup incoming (heavenly sword, warhawk (absolutely fantastic game), Haze (timed exclusive), GT5 (this games looks absolutely stunning), Metal gear Solid 4, Killzone 2 etc etc)

Also bear in mind UT3 on the xbox will not have player customisable maps, PS3 will simply because a PS3 has a hard drive in every console and a 360 doesnt, this is rarely mentioned but is in fact very important as a 360 game will always have to be made to work with no hdd whereas a ps3 game can.
This was highlighted at E3 by the Grand Theft Auto team saying it was easier to create huge seamless worlds with downloadable content on a ps3 because data could be slapped onto the hdd.

But at the end of the day you wont be dissapointed with either, decide which games to you are the ones you definitely want to play, see if they are coming out on another format (most likely pc) to see if they are exclusives and then make your choice.
For me personally it was Mass Effect against GT5, MGS4 and Final Fantasy,
in the end i decided to get both ><

If theres game on the Wii you like and/or you plan MP gaming sessions with your mates/family, then get a Wii.

Otherwise get a 360.

As many have said in this thread, I also am yet to experience any lag. ATALL. Including Motorstorm online.

I'm in the market for a new console also at the moment, And i'm going for the PS3 :) I want a 360, but i'm waiting for the revised consoles.

great enjoy the game selection

I'm more impressed with what the 360 currently does, while I'm impressed with what the PS3 can do. That is the big difference. There are many sour points for both, such as lag on Live which is a subscription based service while I've yet to experience lag on the Playstation Network, or having a library of good games and developer support for one console over another with only one or two good games and a secondary glance-over from developers and publishers. With the PS3 comes the risk of poor multi-platform ports, not because of the hardware but because developers do not see it as a viable enough investment to spend the funds on equal efficiency and performance levels. Valve hiring EA games who have admitted they do not have time to figure the PS3's cell capabilities out to port over what is argubly one of the most important multiplatform games out this year is one example of this. As the PS3 grows, this will become less frequent as developers are more encouraged to devote more time and resources towards making their games the best they can be.

Another point to remember: don't try and get sucked in by the blu-ray capabilities - it's not a guarantee of a game's overall success, depth and playability; Heavenly Sword and Lair are said to be two of the bigger PS3 games in terms of blu-ray storage capacity, yet they have both been hailed as mediocre to above average at best. The blu-ray drive in the PS3 is also marred by a relatively slow 2x read speed capability, which affects loading times in some cases. The PS3's real advantage in terms of storage and loading comes from the mandatory hard disc drive, which is a huge advantage and a great boon for developers.

They both have their plus points, but it comes down to this: current performance or future potential? One's a proven and the other's up in the air (although it's steadily coming down to earth now).

Oh hi there mr trolly troll.

I am already enjoying the game selection, I've had chances to play all 3 of the consoles at my friends house, He has a nice big Bravia TV, and I've pretty much worn the thumb pads down on both his 360 and PS3.

I've been playing on a PS3 in this country probably longer than most on this forum, Considering it's japanese. And i've grown to love the console. Warhawk is without a doubt the most fun i've had on a Nxt gen console since I first played GOW/RFOM.

reason I'm buying the PS3 over the 360? It's Not down to the blatent brown nosed fanboyism you ooze, It's down to the fact i've sat there and watched him have to return 3 360's. That's put me off the current batch thank you very much. Not saying the 360 is a bad console, Theres no brand loyalty in my decision, It's down to me wanting to come home from work and CONSTANTLY being able to jump on a console if i feel the need.

For me, the 360s aren't reliable enough. The PS3's are.

When the 360's are reliable, I'll be at the front of the queue with my debit card in hand.

they'll never be reliable, i'm guessing

That is the only reason I am leaning toward 360. Oh and also Force Unleashed when it comes out (but that'll probably be available on the PS3 as well).

Woah, thanks for all the comments, even though a lot of it is arguments it is still helping me make a decision, for the type of games that I play I did think the PS3 would probably be more suitable after having a look at their upcoming releases.

Xbox games just seemed a little unoriginal, although I like the generic FPS / Action / Racing genres, I feel that most of what is released on the xbox will just stick to those tried and tested genres wheras playstation already has some interesting titles lined up.

The wii is out the question really as the games seemed to be more for the casual gamer which is ok but you want some games with a bit of depth also.

I'm gonna looke into the xbox 360 a bit more first though as I could be wrong about it and a lot of people seem to love them, although sounds like the break down quite a bit which is a problem.

Well thanks for the help so far then! ;)
