Which Console? So Confused? Plz no Fanboys

The PS4 is the superior console without doubt, hardware, more exclusives, PS+, Shareplay etc... You can't argue that the Xbox is a better console because of a racing game haha DriveClub still has potential and hope, just had a bad start on release, thats the developers fault not Sony's. Yeh sure you could argue the PlayStation Network is always down for 'maintenance' and not as stable, but lets remember the console hasnt been out a year yet, and the future of PS4 is only going to improve rapidly.

Theirs a lot I dont get.

PS4 does have some big network problems in general day to day use.
No external Hardware support, no DLNA, limited playback support, no external HDD way to expand, doing things like saying no to EA access which has turned out to be more popular than thought on XO.
Stuff like that is hurting them, they have sopped moving forward when they had been gifted the early running.
And Driveclub?...come on, theirs no defending that game now, lack luster to begin with, incomplete game that isnt working online, so much so people had to start screen shot posting their lap times on the forum lol.

And that's exactly what I mean.

Sony had the lead, a comfortable one at that. (Yes I know they technically still do) but they could have kept trying to add things, make improvements etc but they just got complacent and haven't done much apart from the recent 2.0 update.

And I'm still shocked that Sony have not got one blockbuster exclusive for christmas. Damn even little big planet 3 an exclusive game isn't even up for pre-order on the psn store.

Halo no matter what people say is going to be a massive hit. Sony could have done an uncharted trilogy or something, that would have been gold too.

It's frustrating seeing so much potential going wasted. Sony have better exclusives in their hand, it's why I've always preferred playstation consoles, the likes of wipeout, ratchet and clank, god of war, uncharted, last of us, gran turismo, motorstorm etc they could have pulled something out of the bag this year, but instead they've relied on pushing multi-platform games.

And to be totally honest with regards to driveclub, I still feel evolution should have just stuck to motorstorm, I would have loved a new motorstorm with a focus back on mud deformation etc. People barging you in online racing games is frustrating and happens a lot which is why they're frustrating in forza, gran turismo etc but in motorstorm it was the whole point of the game, and they could have had a decent game in my opinion

But lets remember, its a gaming console not a media centre, Sony specifically made the PS4 on launch as a strictly standard gaming console, and after a really good couple months its been the top console outselling the Xbox every month. So they must be doing something right? The 2.00 update earlier this week was nice, some really good features, they can now sit back and add little things like external HDD support and DLNA which is coming soon.

You don't get why features that were never announced or promised haven't arrived?

Ultimately it seems many people bought PS4s expecting the console to transform into their own specific vision of what it should be. If the gamer-orientated marketing didn't paint a clear enough picture of what the PS4 would be I don't know what else they could have done. The Xbox was always going to be the more media-orientated device.

The vast majority of improvements the Xbox has seen over the past 12 months have been a result of significant internal changes within the Xbox division, which in turn allowed them to be far more reactionary and impose changes, improvements, price drops etc quickly. Sony hasn't really undergone any such changes and in all the history of the PlayStation they've never really been one to react promptly to what the market wants at any given moment. They stick with their original vision and make slower, larger changes over time.

In any case, it's only been a year, they both have plenty of time left. I'm not the least bit concerned about either of them.

Yeah and to be fair I buy consoles as primarily consoles. But added functionality is a bonus. I like using netflix, amazon, now tv (youtube now) etc and dlna would have been useful (I can use the tv but dlna functionality but still) But the fact that both the ps4 (especially) and xbox one do less than the older consoles is shocking

Did they mention if instant resume would come?

And right you are.

Console gaming was apparently dead, no one wanted dedicated boxes anymore, mobile gaming was the future.

Yet the ps4 has smashed sales records, and even though the xbox one might be selling less, people forget that it's still sold a hell of a lot of consoles in it's own right.

One thing is for certain, the way both these consoles are now, and the way games graphics look, will certainly be very different in a few years time.

Look at how the xbox 360 and ps3 were at release to how they were in later stages, massive overhaul in what they could do, and the jump in graphics was great.

Umm Sony has under gone MASSIVE restructuring because of looses, many heads have rolled out etc.
PS3 managed to be one of the best media centres, so what changed?

Yeah I do. I posted about it earlier :)

But those changes weren't a response to "people hate our console"; the changes within the Xbox division were intended to fix the problems the initial announcements created.

The PS3 ended up expensive and not very gamer-orientated when it launched and it took them ages to catch up, Sony were clearly very eager not to repeat that.

True, they have taken a strong line with ForTheGamers etc as their selling line, the problem with it is right now theirs little in the way of games.

Yep, a year on and I'm still waiting to be taken back to the PSX days. That said, I love the console.

Must confess I didn't read OP in full, as you like driving games I'd got for Xbone. Driveclub was hailed as the next greatest thing and has become nothing but an embarrassment. I have little faith in GT series after the massive anticlimax that was 5, never played 6 as I was still reeling over 5. Will give their PS4 effort a chance though. Forza is the one IP I really wish was on PS, but not enough for me to buy a Microsoft console.

You cant go wrong with either console today with current prices and deals going around.

It was stacked in the PS4s favour earlier on but since the price cuts and ditching of Kinect it more even now.

Given your requirements in OP I would say its a no brainer, xbox one for you this very moment given there are two very good racing games available in forza/horizon and GT is a long way off yet. Plus driveclub seems to be a bit of a disaster at the moment, no doubt they will fix it but the damage has been done.

Easy, although both the PS3 & 360 sold similar quantities more multiplatform games were sold for the 360 and as that's what makes the money for both companies it's far more important to them.
