Which console to get?

Im looking to go a bit retro and Im stuck on what to get a NES or SNES?
Im swaying more towards my first ever console the NES but the SNES also has some great games.

What do you people think?
 
Hmmm! SNES and super punchout seems to be appealing! just slightly off topic looking at your sig is Jericho any good ive just bought it and just waiting for it to arrive!
 
SNES - ah great days. Starfox was ground breaking iirc. F0 was pretty cool too but Streetfighter II was the king of that console! Hours and hours of play!

Oh - and Star Wars - the sand speeder level - so many memories!
 
SNES easily. Zombies ate my neighbours, Mario World, Mario Allstars, Mario Kart, WWF Royal Rumble, Killer Instinct, SF2 Turbo, the list is endless.
 
snes, duh!

Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, SMW 1 & 2, Mario Allstars, Mario Kart. There's enough quality in just these few games to match any of this gens consoles.
 
I think its going to have to be a snes! there was loads of games that i spent hours on it.
And ohhh yeah i forgot about the star wars games, sometimes the snes struggled with the amount of enemies on screen at one time ha ha ha!
 
NES!!!!

(I also go against the grain)

But, having said that, I do think the SNES is overrated TBH and did actually have more fun with the NES.

I think the NES would look far too dated now unfortunately, and the SNES had much better games imo.

Chronotrigger, Secret of Mana, Zombies Ate my Neighbours, Shadowrun, Mario Kart, and those are just the first 5 to pop into my head that aren't available on the Wii's VC yet.
 
Makes a change to the usual 360 vs PS3 arguement thats for sure.

I used to have a SNES when I was little and loved all the Nintendo classics so it gets my vote.

I gather you're a snes fanboy then ;) i liked both consoles but the mega drive had the better games imo, i used to love road rash/golden axe/streets of rage/sonic(though super mario world is better than any sonic) toe jam & earl etc...the list is endless :D

I just bought a boxed mega drive/master system and snes myself :D
