Which console?

Xmas bonus just came in and I am looking for a gaming console. I don't fancy the Nintendo WII, I am considering either 360 or PS3? Advice on which? I am learning towards PS3 with the new GTA coming up.

If you're after GTA, then go for the 360 as it has console-specific downloadable contents which I don't think the PS3 is getting. I "may" be wrong though.
 
New GTA will be on 360 as well.

IMO get the 360. Great catalogue of games now and again, imo, the controller is far superior.

Although I have heard recently that 2008 will be a good year for PS3.

I would say look at some online shops, see which console has the most games that appeal to you at the moment and coming in the next 6 months, and get that console. :)
 
Look at the current 360 and PS3 games, and also look at whats due out next year, see what appeals to you most and thats the best way to make your choice :)

I've had both, both are fantastic, and both have pro's/con's there is no winner, it's personal preference.
 
After seeing the Prologue demo of GT5, i will be waiting till that is released then picking up a 40GB PS3, as i still have a relatively new slimline PS2 to play my old games on.

For the time being though, as much as i dislike MS, the 360 is the way to go atm.
 
Ahh noo not this question again lol!

To the op have a look at the current games out for each console, also check the games out for next year. Also consider what of the extra features are going to be useful to you ie "free" Hidef Movie player ( Blu-ray), Wifi and free online for the PS3, much better community with xbox live for the 360 that doesnt cost that much over the year.
Regarding GTA4 it will have a simultaneous release on both 360 and PS3, but with the Xbox360 it will have 2 exclusive DLC extras released after a couple of months, not free but i guess they wont be much. One other thing to note is the next Rockstar franchise is going to be PS3 exclusive whatever it may be.
Also search this forum there's been plenty of discussion about it over the last month or two.
 
Xbox 360 for games available now.

PS3 is the better long term investment though and will really start to take off throughout next year.
 
Not sure the 360 has that much life left in it compared to the 360. I'd say the future will be stronger from next year with the ps3.

If it's GTA you want then the Xbox360 is the console to get. Microsoft paid $50m for future exclusive content.

You mean Ps3 ;).
The Xbox360 has loads of life in it, it's only 2 years old. Microsoft haven't announced their games yet like Sony did, they focused on games coming out this year rather than next, but from what we have seen I'd say they look even, or even stronger for Microsoft.

But I'm bias, Alan Wake is coming out on the 360 and it's my most anticipated game ever!

ARGH!! This comment drives me mad.
They are equally powered, with equal releases. The only way PS3 is a better long-term investment is IF Blu-Ray wins and that's only IF you're looking for a Blu-Ray player.

The PS3 is NOT a better long term investment, they are both as long term as each other, so it's best to go for the games you like. They are both excellent consoles, so it's highly unlikely people would be disappointed with buying either, but the life cycles are the same.

Are they? People were already talking about the next Xbox 360, but I don't want to get into this console wars things again, these topics should be deleted.

Look around, what games do you want next year? What do you want this year? How much do you care about online? Will you watch movies on your console?

Look around at gaming sites, they are everywhere.
 
People are talking about the next Xbox console, yes, but it's been out 2 years, expect the same for the PS3 around the same time. Sony cannot allow Microsoft to launch 12 months earlier again, it's financial suicide. Microsofts console WILL be more reliable, so it could spell the end for the PS4, so they have to release side by side.
Some people like Valve have already mentioned that Sony should be focusing on the development of the Playstation 4, so I know developers would welcome it.

But there is no way the Xbox3 will release without competition.
