which Corsair ram to go with my Ryzen 7 2700x

Using that DRAM Calc I was able to set tighter timings using the same RAM on my 2700X.

Not a lot tighter, but certainly a bit.

IMO it’s at least worth a go just to squeeze a little more out of your system.

I bought Corsair Vengeance LED 32gb 2x sticks, originally for my 1700x then 2700x. Fastest stable speed I got was 3066. Wish I bought the G.Skill ram for it. Might well do that for the Ryzen 3000 series.

I have this exact memory and a 2700x and the most I can get it to run at is 2933Mhz @ 15-15-15-35.

Let’s hope the IMC’s in the new Ryzen chips are more equal than Zen+.

Does seem a bit hit and miss with Zen+, I couldn’t get stable above 3400Mhz, some couldn’t even get 3000Mhz, even with B-die RAM.

Sorry for bringing this thread back to life, i'm a newbee and have what i think is a relatively straight forward questions but scared witless of making a balls of my first ever build

I've bought myself a MSI B450 Carbon pro and a Ryzen 7 2700X and am looking for the matching RAM to purchase. Couple of questions:
1) The chip seems to be advertised at 2933MHz so i had initially thought just buy 3000MHz and if i understand correctly RAM speed can be chosen in boot up profiles and anything over the CPU advertised and the system needs OC?
2) The MSI support page has an extensive list of supported memory for this CPU/board but my initial choice based on value and some light research of CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 seems to have a conflict where MSI say its a tested match on AMD socket but Corsair OEM site shows it for intel only?

Is there likely a mistake on the tech spec's here to lead to this ambiguity or is there something my rookie eyes are missing? Curiously the CMK16GX4M2B3000C15B(/R/W) variants are listed on MSI support but not the plain black heatsink from the OCUK link. As i'm a paranoid detail freak this unerves me to say the least!

FYI i'm planning on a MSI 8GB RX 580 armour and Samsung EVo plus 970 m.2 if that makes any odds. Not looking a world beating machine with my budget but I'll be venturing into a mix of FPS, RPG, stragety/sim and MMO
