Which Coupe?

I've got a budget of around 15K and am looking to buy a second hand coupe. I'm thinking maybe a last generation A5 but keep thinking of some sort of BMW.

Has anyone any experience of either or maybe some other suggestions?

Thanks

A BMW 428i is going to more like 17k for a decent one.
A bit less at ~£15.5-16k according to autotrader for my 63 reg 428i.
It's got the pro nav, adaptive suspension, adaptive headlights, m-sport brakes and extended lighting pack. 63 regs at the time didn't have the msport plus package - so missing the hk sound system.
Very nice car though. can recommend. Although that being said - i suggest you try out a 35i and a 28i first before deciding. I didn't, and in hindsight I should've.
Another thing is (if you can up your budget) to get a later version (but still pre-LCI). BMW redesigned the centre console so that you didn't need to remove the key holder (and store it somewhere else) to access the cup holders - a bit of a PITA, but a livable quirk.

I had a look on AT before posting and everything around 15-16k was either non M Sport or had poverty spec.

:D

maybe they're under-quoting me lol. definitely got a 428i msport :P
not that i'm going to sell my car anytime soon.

if i were to get another bimmer though, i probably wouldn't settle for anything less than pro nav, adaptive suspension, adaptive headlights, m-sport brakes, hk sound and extended lighting pack.
at the time i was looking for a couple of months so i got a bit bored and settled for a car w/o the hk sound. a bit of a mistake after sitting in my friend's car with the hk sound system :(
oh and another thing is getting the heated steering wheel (granted getting a heated steering + adaptive dampeners preowned is rare as hens teeth, unless buying a new car and custom spec)
lots seem to be poverty spec as you say...

Maybe coupe is the wrong term. I like two / three door cars because I’m rather tall.

I like the look of the BMW 4 Series but they may be too expensive at the moment, which is why I was thinking of a two door 3 series or an A5. It should be comfortable for doing longs trips.

I think the A5 looks great, but I’ve read things about the steering feeling unresponsive and the peddles being offset in the manual. You guys obviously rate the BMW’s but I’ve got zero experience of them. I guess I need to get out there a drive a couple.

Thanks

can always drop down to the 2 series if you don't require a bigger vehicle.
also the 3 series coupe are the older e9x models, looks a wee bit dated inside (if that matters to you) - they were superseded by the 4 series as part of bmw's product name differentiation
and the nav system is the older CCC/CIC depending on which model year, rather than NBT
