Get a decent hoover for less and stop buying from a company that everyone thinks is good. Their products are inferior and prone to failure. I would like to say its British engineering at its best, but it's not. Its cheap plastic rubbish and a decent idea, cheaply manufactured.
I would like to say they are good cleaners and well worth the money, but the number of failures and warranty returns just prove they are rubbish - simple as. People see the name and assume its good. Its not.
Get a decent vacuum for less money - Its a vacuum you will use on average 70 times a year..... so why waste money on it (unless you want to throw it away on something that will fail after 18 months).
My last vacuum lasted 7 years and was still going strong after numerous cement dust hoovers.

we had are henry over 10 years still, and thats been to 3 houses, 2 shops, travel most places and fell down the stairs so many times, the dog eat the plug 2, replaced that and still going strong

Any of the Miele [pronounced 'Meel-uh'] range; the Cat and Dog is very popular and highly-praised. In fact, it was praise such as this - from countless reviews and word of mouth - that made me get one following the disappointingly unexplosive failure of two Dysons. I've never looked back. Certainly not while hoovering, anyway.
It also has pictures of cute kittens and puppies on the box.
Go on, look at the little kittens.

we've had dysons for years, always been happy, they just need a bit of maintenance now and again (clearing out crap, 10 mins job with a screwdriver)
our 15 is good, so i guess go for the 14 'cause that's a higher number than 7? twice as much to be exact!

We have the DC07 and it sucks really good 
We also have a Henry which was used whilst the Dyson was being repaired, compared to the Henry, the Dyson seems to pick up stuff that you can't even see, I'm convinced the mass of our carpet is reducing over time. The automatic brush bar is great for carpets, especially if you pets such as long-haired cats that seems to shed their fur as they walk along.
Reliability is a problem though so you should definitely get cover on it (ours is via the home insurance). We have had the lifetime motor filter replaced 3 times, the motor once, the cyclone & bin assembly once and the pipe once. Washing the filter frequently, brushing out the cyclone and cleaning the brush bar does help to keep the machine in good working order.
