Which game for a 5 year old as an introduction to gaming?

Funny you mention minecraft, someone I know works at a place where the allow/block URLs etc for schools and they recently had a request from a primary school to unlock Minecraft so the children can play it for some of their lessons.

Why not just go all out and give her amnesia while we're at it :p

+1 to the lego games though. Good laugh, and being co-op capable is awesome. If she's to start gaming so young, might as well make it an activity you can share together rather than just have her sitting on her own :). So i guess that just extends to any co-op game you can find that looks child-friendly as well.

You're both wrong - what she needs to play is Scary Maze. Or Postal :P

I have that but I can't get it working on Windows 64Bit :(.

I say let her play Portal, it's cheap, fun and it can help with puzzle solving. You'll probably have to help her but it's a fun game for everyone really. Other than that I'd go with the good ol' Mario and the older PS1 crash Bandicoot games if you have them.

If you're feeling adventurous (Excuse the pun) then you could try Little Big Adventure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Big_Adventure. I played this game with my dad when I was around 3 and to this day it's still my favourite game of all time.
