Just curious,

Saw it mentioned in the MK thread.

I guess Streetfighter 2? (Am gonna try find a list of all game shortly) or Pokemon?

If you count just the platform series from SMB through to Mario Galaxy I think it is less than 8!!

Not sure if this counts with it being a different platform and all, but I'll throw it out there anyway. EverQuest has had 14 expansions on the PC, a PS2 MMO, two PS2 hack n slash EQ games, an EQ RTS, an in-game card game a bit like Magic the Gathering, and 4 expansions on the Mac.

Do we mean iterations of the same game, like SF2? Because people are listing games with a long series, I count these as separate games rather than different versions of the same game.

It's been going since about '94 I think, with an update most years since.
Best fighting game in existence though.

Ralph/Kensou/Kusanagi > The entire universe.

I even got a perfect in the first round against Ryan Hart once, he was the reigning world champ at the time I think. Got battered in the remaining rounds, but still to this day I'm proud of that moment. :D
 
The Madden series has been going a fair while now, and been on virtually every platform every single year. Must be up there.

Yeah I sort of meant games in a series that have not changed too much.

i.e. it's argueable you could seperate the Final Fantasy's into the 2d and 3d ones. However, with Mario Bros I wouldn't as the core gameplay was more or less the same, just added a 2rd dimension.

For street fighter 2 there is only the ones I listed above. I count the vs games as different as they had totally different game play (jump like 50 feet in the air and absolutely ridiculous super moves!!). Alpha games are different as is SF3 etc.

Not sure if I have explained it as well as I mean in my head.

you could pick any EA sports series really, Fifa, Madden, NHL, NBA, they have all been around since 93/94 with an update once a year. If you count all the fifa world cup and euro games then its even more. (At least 15)

That would mean 14ish iterations (although some years FIFa did a RTWC title).
