Which GTX 560Ti? Trying to find decent ground between "noise" and "performance".

Then it's decided, the MSI Twin FrozR GTX 560Ti it is! Shame the offer on OCUK ended today, could have saved an extra £6. Will check out some other reliable retailers for prices.

Thanks everyone. :)

The card in my link actually runs a lot cooler than a standard 480, it also provides much much more performance than a 560Ti.

It is almost close to a 580 in terms of performance, I had the pleasure of testing my mates one yesterday.

It does run a lot cooler, true, although noise plays a huge factor in what card i can choose (as mentioned in initial post) which is why i went for the 560Ti series. If fan audio wasn't an issue then i would be looking at the 480s, but i'm afraid they are not an option at the present time. :(

One last thing before i go and order (should have asked this earlier): Is there any reason a Asus P5Q Pro Turbo Motherboard wouldn't work with this GPU? I can't find a problem myself but thought i would double-check with the professionals here.

I've seen good things about the Gigabyte's performance but i've also heard that the factory OC seems to be a little weird for some people. Not sure why or how, never investigated. I've also heard that it's got some high fan audio compared to the rest of the 560 range, although i imagine it is still fairly quiet. Not sure what to make of this card if i'm honest. The MSI Twin FrozR took my fancy before i read up on review sites and found that it lacks on the performance front. Temperatures are great so it looks to be good for over-clocking, meaning it can probably be a really good performer when given a tweak, i just don't know how that will affect the default fan noise. It may be ok now but if it's going to crank up another 5-10db then i will probably pass on it. Like the Gigabyte, not sure what to make of this card either.

The thing is if the performance of the MSI card concerns you, then you are pretty much going to have to buy a factory OC'd card - yet that is another thing you are worried about with the Gigabyte card!

Personally, I wouldn't get too hung up on benchmarks of different brands of the same card - get something with good cooling like the MSI [as it seems you've decided on], then overclock manually if you are not happy with the performance. I've got the GTX470 Twin Frozr II so assuming the cooling system is similar, it should be fine. Yes if you crank the fan speed up to say 70% then it is loud, but the thing is there's no need really, the card runs cool (cooler than my CPU under load in fact, and the GTX560 should be cooler still than the GTX470).

Gigabyte gtx560 OC here
Brilliant card, didnt have any problems, tried to overcklock to SOC version clocks - thats not hard ;) 1050/2100/2200 without problems (vcore 1150)
And probably can push lil bit more, just no reason, using it at stock cklocks atm
Temperature in idle ~24-26C,max under 100% load ~52-56C depending on game
Have no issues with GB gtx560 OC,have this card since they were released, happy owner here

lol sound/heat aside, I would seriously consider a 480 over a 560. They can be had for less money and quite soundly outperform the 560. Why buy any other variant of Nvidia card in that price range? (had to be careful there as to not offend ati fanboys )

As you say, sound/heat aside i would go for it. But sound/heat are important factors for me so the 560 is my only option. For everyone else the 480 might sound good, and it did to me too, but myself and others around me won't be able to stand the noise of them. I've heard and seen these cards in person (my friend owns one 480) and it sounds like a hair-dryer when playing games.

Thus, the 560 it is. :)
