Have you tried it yet? I had my first go today and I think It's going to revolutionize home entertainment , It's so immersive and it isn't just limited to game play. If you get a chance then try it out as its hard to describe how good it is
 
HTC Vive is certainly going to win round one as it is simply a more complete solution and (at least to me) a better value proposition.

However, when Oculus Touch comes out later this year it will open things up a fair bit and they will be going toe to toe both on price and features.

Personally, I have pre-ordered the Vive as I don't want to wait for the complete experience. Launching without motion controllers and an overpriced console controller was a huge mistake for Oculus I think.
 
Don't think it's a fad at all; just fear it may not be ready for mainstream as hoped. Doubt it'll drop from radar completely again, but maybe not properly soar for many years yet.

Still, I'm pretty excited about it now and will likely buy one of the Vive or Rift when/if they're decently established. Fingers-crossed.
