How good is Skyrim VR combat?

it's a matter of flailing your arms rather than mashing a button. Feels kind of weightless.
You can punch people with a shield, which is nice. Raising the shield slows movement but I think that can be turned off.
Archery is better, you can make yourself feel like Legless the elf from that movie. There's a realistic archery option that does something or other.

Don't know about using magic, not being a girl.

There are mods for casting using gestures. Probably mods for the flailing and shooting too.

It works well enough but lacks finesse, bit like normal skyrim.

Magic works really well in Skyrim VR as you can aim two spells in different directions with your arms. You can also use casting gestures, or voice activation with the appropriate mods. My current VR playthrough is with a mage. Previously I had a stealth archer and that works really well in VR.
Melee combat feels weightless and isn't that satisfying (more recent VR combat games have done this much better).

I'm sure magic is a perfectly fine path to take and you can all talk about your exploits while sipping alto wine with a little umbrella in it.
Last night I shield punched a bear to death, stole the 30 gold it was hoarding and used it to buy some mead from three boxes with an elf drawn on them.
