Hi all,

Can any of you suggest me a board for a new i7 build, preferably decent overclocks etc? Whats the general opinion of the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5?

Many thanks

My current two choices from no knowledge whatsoever are

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

OR

Asus P6TD Deluxe?

Thanks

my choices from using every x58 board available...

ud5 is the great allrounder

alternative is the p6t deluxe [any variant will do]

if you want great overclocks the RIIE is great as is the classified

you need to list exactly what you are looking for..

the ud5 ticks most peoples boxes

I went for the UD3R simply because it had everything I needed, and didn't have loads of stuff i'd never use, like the extra ram slots and stuff like that, and its a hell of a lot cheaper than the other boards, it overclocks well and got really good reviews!

I want a good solid board, want to overclock and I don't think theres much else? whats the RIIE?

Oh and another question given I'm only really getting responses from one guy in my other thread. Is i7 really worth it over i5?

different people will say different things but it is accepted that the i7 is better so if you have the money go for an i7 :)
RIIe is the rampage 2 extreme
and finally i think the UD5 or UD3R(its cheaper brother) is you best option they overclock just fine

Depends on your uses.
If your gaming then not really.
If your leaving at stock then the i5 will perform better.
If your overclocking then the 1366 i7 will go a bit further and perform better.

Using a p6t deluxe v2 here (p6td is a slightly newer board) well pleased with it, not much in it tbh between theese boards.

Thanks for the replies guys. Currently will be used for degree work (see how I put it first, because it's such high priority ;)), gaming most of the time and the occasional bit of encoding video possibly. I do want to overclock though, free speed is good :)

£256 for a motherboard!! No lol, just no. I think I'll possibly go UD5 if everyone thinks they aren't a bad board :)

I recieved a DOA UD5. And had clearance issues with it. So im not a big fan ;)
99% of people have no issues with them though.
