STEELSERIES 6 GV2 or Ozone Strike Gaming Mechanical Keyboard

So I basically have 1 day to decide and I was wondering does anyone have any personal experience with one or both or these keyboards? If so which one would you recommend for a gamer, I play mmorpg's, fps and a few others.

They're both going to be okay if you like cherry blacks. Do you plan on typing a lot? If you do, you may want to consider a keyboard with blues/browns/reds instead.

Hmm well I am going uni soon and will be studying cs, what would you suggest for gaming & typing?

Browns are good, though I've just got the Corsair K60 (with reds) and it's really nice to type on. This is coming from a decent touch typist with quite a high typing rate - if you don't touch type it may not be as nice for you.

If you're going to be living in halls I wouldn't recommend a mech board, as even the quietest of them are louder than standard rubber dome. You could always get a mech board then add O ring dampers to it but it will end up costing you a pretty penny altogether.

Mechanical keyboards aren't *that* loud. Even the thin insulation of the University halls walls will be enough to dampen the sound of the typing, unless you're hitting the keys with an actual hammer.

I have blue's black's and red's and they're all pretty loud compared to my membrane boards. And it was more that the mech boards would annoy the people he would be living with other than the people next door.. Especially if he went with a blue switch board.

No I will be fine, sound level is not a problem :)

Unless uni halls are vastly different outside of Manchester any that I have seen have always been single-occupant rooms. You might have 6 people in your flat but you'd have one bedroom each. I always thought the idea of sharing a bedroom with someone was a bit of an American thing. If they are indeed in some weird bedroom love-in then yes, by all means, keep the noise of the mechanical keyboard in mind.

Terk, could you send me a message via trust as to where you have seen the Steeleries keyboard for sale as I cannot find it anywhere?

Thanks in advance. :)

mech boards arent loud

i had a blue key board before my current red keys and the blue was louder.

may be best to go for reds/blacks/browns for gaming depending on your preference.

What on Earth is all this talk with Cherry Browns and other various colours?

Please excuse my ignorance, and Google isn't helping much. :D

Well I know for a fact that my mother can hear me through the walls at night when I'm typing on my blue board, so I had to learn to touch type.

Either way to say mech boards aren't loud is silly. All boards are made slightly differently, and the housing they're in makes a difference as well in how loud they are and how they sound. My friend has filco with blues which is a fair bit louder than my cherry g80.

How loud are the black and brown ones?

I can't speak for every brown or black board but I have used a filco tenkeyless with browns and blacks. When touch typing on both these boards I found them to be fairly quiet. I really didn't like the black switches though as they just felt "boring" and not fun to type with. Browns I felt were kind of mushy and felt as if they were just scraping against something all the way down.

I have often wondered why your keyboard sounds so loud over mumble! :p

btw this is going to be my first mechanical keyboard and having never tried one with black switches yet aiming to buy one do you guys think I will like it straight away? or should I be looking to buy e.g. a blue as my first
