Which Keyboard?

btw this is going to be my first mechanical keyboard and having never tried one with black switches yet aiming to buy one do you guys think I will like it straight away? or should I be looking to buy e.g. a blue as my first

I would try black switches before buying, lots of people say they take too much pressure. of course it's possible you'll love them, but it's down to personal preference. I would say brown switches are the safest, if you're not able to try before you buy.

For most people the browns would be the best all round switch. I really wanted reds because I was after a really light action but took a punt on the browns and I am glad I did. Very light, much lighter than I expected. I went for the Filco Mage2 Tenkeyless and it's up there with the SSD for real user improvements that make a difference.

I did this for another thread, a quick comparison between reds and blues. To the OP, the 6Gv2 is a really good keyboard, just make sure you have a PS2 port to get the NKRO. I have heard people make a huge racket with just a standard £2 Dell keyboard, so noise is all dependant on how you type. Having said that, the Cherry MX blue switches are noisier simply because of the click, with something like reds, they are so light, you will probably bottom out every time, so you will make noise from the key hitting the base. If you type softly, browns are a solid gaming and typing switch, but you have to get a filco or Zowie keyboard for those particular switches.

In a choice between the steel series and the Ozone, i would go for the steel series.

Im passing on the choice between the two, I will now be going with one from filco! however Im lost now brown or blue? I need a keyboard for gaming and typing however I want one that sounds like a mechanical keyboard! not one that sounds like an ordinary one so with the brown switches will I still get the mechanical feel?

If you want one that has a very pleasing sound and don't mind the noise, go for blues. They are truly lovely to type on and have no problems with the gaming. People will try tell you about "double tapping" issues with blues, but as long as when you double tab you completely release the key each time (as I naturally do) I've had zero problems.

Very good choice on decideding to go filco, very nicely made keyboards.
The noise you get from browns is a firm defined clunk from the keys bottoming out, as apposed to the higher pitched click noise from the blues, you still get the mechanical "feel" for definite, may not however sound as mechanical as the blues.
i went for the browns as i felt the more high pitched click noise of the blues would get a bit old over time, but i still wanted the tactile clicky feel.
browns are supposed to be best of both worlds, all i can suggest is ordering browns and if they are not right for you return under DSR and get it swapped for blues, or visa-versa, bit of a pain in the **** buts its the only real way to find out unless you know someone with both.
