I agree, the MMO market is (for me) dying a long drawn out death. Its become stale, cloned and more and more restrictive in what a player is allowed to do (just incase anyone gets upset...awwww)
When I think back to the sheer level of freedom and scope of what you could do in UO, and compare it to how linear and hand-held modern MMOs have become, I just know that its a genre on its last legs for me.
At the moment I am playing LOTRO , pretty much purely for the roleplay as it brings back memories of the RP I used to have on UO. Once I am done with that though, I will retire from MMOs completely. Its been a good 12 years in MMOs, but its become blindingly obvious to me that the genre has not been progressing since UO (in fact it seems to have done the opposite and become more linear and restrictive, rather than more open and free)
