Beware of linking to competitors sites on here pal.

The Gigabyte AB350 gets lots of recommendations on here.

The Asus Strix B350 that you have not linked is considered the best bang for buck motherboard you can buy for a Ryzen system.

i was just loooking and noticed it only had one m2 slot is that common on most newer boards then

Not necesserily depends on the motherboard manufacturer, the Asrock ab350 pro 4 has 2 x m2 slots and if used you will loose 2 sata ports which is normal but if the second is used loose pcie slot.

Asrock if you plan on use 2 x m.2 slots , Myself will use 1 x m.2 SDD 500gb for OS/game installing & use a 4tb normal HDD for storage.
Asus i don't think you loose any ports if you use the M.2 ,checked the manual & website all
is fine

Another recommendation for the B350 STRIX. There is currently one issue which needs resolving (easy bios update pending) - cold boot issues if using DCOP settings.
(simple restart resolves it )

board is super smexeh compared to the others ;)

@marco.da.man
Gaming 3 or Strix.

Strix nails it on looks and easier bios , Gigabyte has the pull of Rep presence and UK Repair center, and is currently the cheaper of the two
If your buying either from OCUK also get good customer service and should handle RMA flawlessly - touch wood never happens -

both handle 3200hz - specially if you'e got 8 Packs ram but most are spec'd with TeamGroup 3000hz 16GB ram kit

Asus ROG Strix B350-F AMD B350 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard recommend

Best on board sound chip ROG SupremeFX S1220A 113db

Very good Heatsinks
Asus Boards got bet Fan Control With A.I Suit 3

^^^ Gaming 3 has higher bD rating for sound as well as recording if your into streaming

The ALC1220 is a high-performance multi-channel High Definition Audio Codec with up to 120dB SNR for crystal clear audio and features such as Smart Headphone Amp, 114dB SNR recording for precise voice chats and hardware decoding of DSD128, ensuring users get the best possible audio quality from their PC.

as well as USB ports for Audio hardware-
fan headers can also accept Temp sensors unlike asus boards - but asus does have the best BIOS personally and i think others would agree

what is the boot issue? googled but only saw a lan issue - is that the one?

beta bios for Crosshair solves this by applying one set of Timings and once past boot cycle loads the user/dcop timings .
Doesn't really bother me (build for a friend- so PC will be on 24/7 and he understands the situation)
Not sure if Gaming 3 has the issues or not as its been a while since ive used it- and again I dont tend to turn off my PC at the wall

yeah thats the one - I could swear I was running the latest BIOS already but numpty here could have missed it.
Board is GORGEOUS though - I'm not usually one for tacky lighting but its so customisable everyone will find a setting they like.

No problems running an m.2 960 EVO either - it just works.

Only thing I needed from X370 boards was USB 3.1c - but hey ho, as long as I've got a USB 3.1 port that should be more than enough - no point spending a ton extra just for a single usb3.1c port.

Highly recommend the TG 8 Pack RAM for this board - it just works - no faffing

My Asus ROG Strix B350-F
..Had no Trouble at all ,Got the latest bios installed , AURA Lighting software Control my RGB memory LED's &
Using my Sound blaster Z :
Overclocking to 3.875MHz i'm use the A.I Suit 3 ,Can have it set to 3.9MHz & Reachs 17xx
Score stable
Not going to try 4.0MHz due to the heat.

I Would get higher score if i went with 8 pack 3200MHz Memory Kit , O well LED's nice on my board.

After reading about your problems with the SB Z I've got myself a B350-f and it works fine now. Are you still using the Phanteks cooler with your setup? I have a Dark Rock Pro 3 but idle temps are about 40c and it does take a lot of room up in my case (Fractal Define C).

Yep ,Still Using Phanteks PH-TC14S 140mm CPU Cooler , Also using another 1 on my ITX Build
this cooler is great ,very little room it takes up ,also you can swap out the 140mm fan if you like with a 120mm ,Dead Silent Cooler with the Quality stock Fan.
you need the AM4 brackets if you use this cooler , Phanteks sent me for free
ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING is great , just updated the bios to ver 1001 - Improve system stability that just been rel ,
My soundblaster z working great.
Also the Team group Memory i got works with AURA Lighting Software so i can change color & flashing.

The Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5,
they might as well refund me for this board ,
Since i'm using the Asus b350-f now & not going to go the pains of swapping boards again,
Got a Email from OC UK on 13th OCT that the Motherboard Went back to gigabyte For repair or Replacement, Also they say if it goes passed 28 days, not returned OC.UK refund me.

So due to the Hardware Fault on the Gigabyte AM4 board with the Soundblaster Z
Cost me a new Motherboard- Asus & new Windows 10 Pro Licence OEM around £260 spent & my time changing over motherboards,
Also £7 odd to send the board back to OC.UK , since i could not get out to the DPD drop
off point for collection, Not happy.

My Asus ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING build with Soundblaster Z & Phanteks Cooler

Inside the case, as a nice Blue Glow with red glow from the sound card that blends in nice with the blue.

Excellent, thanks for the informative post. My setup seems to be a lot more stable since I swapped boards over but that could just be in my head! I had a ROG Sandybridge board previous to going over to Ryzen and it was excellent in all the years I had it, I should have trusted my instinct and stuck to Asus when I moved. I'm just going to sell my gaming 5 board, can't be bothered to RMA it.

How long did it take to receive the bracket from Phanteks though? I don't wan't to buy the cooler and then wait weeks before I can install it.

How are you overclocking? Through the BIOS or just using the AI Suite 3 software? I've still got mine on stock but trying to find a good simple guide to OC my 1700X on this board.
