Windows Media Player for me...have used iTunes, Winamp, RealPlayer but for me WMP will always reign supreme :D

Winamp version 2.53. from October 1999

Tried many other players and this version is still the best. Opens instantly and works perfect. Other versions of winamp do something with the Idtagging that does something like reload a track each time you add it to the playlist.

This one works best for me as i drag folders containing hundreds of mp3s into a playlist and play on shuffle.

You can change that behaviour with WA5.

WMP for me too.

It's quick, easy and looks good, and one of the major reasons, it displays and plays my video library so well too.

Tried winamp in the past but never really got into it. I'd also be interested in knowing how many use iTunes because they "have to" or started using it with an ipod, and how many actually downloaded it. I'm guessing not many for the latter.

I've used Winamp for over 10 years now and see no reason to change, although I do use WMP at work.

I must admit that it's made me very slowly come round to the idea of having a music 'library' (whereby you can browse by metadata), to date I've always just picked what I want to listen to in Explorer.

iTunes seemed really bloated when I tried it on my wife's laptop. Winamp with skin support / agent etc disabled is very lightweight by modern standards and looks/acts almost identical to how it did 10 years ago, although perhaps not so much as something like Foobar2000.

I see J River came up with a unique interface. Ahem.

For a long time I simply used Winamp or Xion from the context menu but since my music collection has grown so big I've started to use Mediamonkey for all things music related...

I used to use WMP, switched to Winamp 3 years ago and have never looked back. Tried various others but none of them have matched Winamp for my purposes.

Creative Zen 8GB which I bought off a member here from M&M.
All synced up with my PC, Play lists created & it plugs into either my Ghetto blaster(A Bazooka :D), My House system or my head unit in one of my motors.
It really is the Ultimate way to Own/sort & Listen to your tunes. My car list is currently at 139 of my fave tunes.

Same here for Winamp.

Been using it since day dot. However, the skins seem to be buggier than ever now with many not even registering and crashing the program.

I love the way it catalogues my music and it also adds a little more oomph with the equalizer on my Creative Extreme Music.

Very happy with it. :D

WMP all the way. Im on windows 7 and have not felt the need to install anything else as it plays most stuff with built in decoders. Does exactly what I need it to do

i despise WMP personally but i will admit to being more than a little surprised when it recognised some AAC files i have right out the box. :p

The interface is nothing to do with it, although it can be skinned to an extent.
The database is the *whole* point. As I said, find me something with a database that'll handle 250,000 files, 37 of my custom fields (Various data types- String, ordered list, plain list and 5-star)
This isn't a particularly good picture, but this is my root audio view-

(Ignore the media, stuff I'm working on gets dumped to the top; Also ignore the dock, it's a pain to get it back in the right place if I move it)

looks interesting so i downloaded the trial and it's already put me in bad mood. it's modified my files without expressly asking for my permission first.

but i'll keep it for a bit and have a play around. can't see me getting rid of foobar anytime soon though.
