i have a budget of £200 to £300 and looking for a netbook.

i have a laptop thats got a 15.4 inch screen and is heavy and bulking and is over 5 years old and am looking for a smaller laptop or netbook that will run my web pages like msn bebo hotukdeals overclockers and youtube ect.

I would also like to run msn yahoo and world of warcraft and office and skype on it so would need xp regardless.

wirelss g and ram would be 1gb and at leats upgradable to 2gb for netbooks and 4gb for small laptops. and hard drive 120gb or bigger. battery life could be the most efficent

so does any one have any recommendations ?

Another for NC10. I am getting mine today. Walking down to PC world in a couple of hours. Will post again when I get it.

waaaaaaaaaaa im so excited :D:D:D:D:D

dont think you can go to wrong with any of the netbooks but seeing as ocuk sell the sammy NC10 and its such a popular choice.. i say sammy NC10 for you :D (really if depends on the looks as they are all running the same internals)

Specs yes, but things do vary. For example the acer has a smaller screen than the samsung as well as a poorer battery, but it is cheaper. The Samsung is a class act, but considering its around the £300 mark it should be!

I've seen the MSI wind can be overclocked to 2GHZ, and read that this is extremely unwise on the acer, but under volting it and underclocking will help increase battery life.

The Acer and Dell both have glossy screens. The keyboard on the dell is too small. The keyboard on the Samsung is good. The trackpads on both the dell and acer are better than the Samsung. The track pad on the Advent is bloody awful. SSD on the Acer is slower than SSD on pretty much all the others that come with it, but the HDD is good.

Basically if you have the money get the Samsung, if not get the 512mb 120gb Acer and install an extra 1gb module yourself (warning, this requires complete dissasembly of the netbook)

I would go with the aspire one since it's the best deal around. Well that's my personal opinion but to me a netbook should be priced pretty low. I find more and more the netbook makers are trying to add a few more features and then increase the prices to be more inline with Laptops. Just my 2 cents.

I would a agree. A netbook should be ultra portable and cheap. The Acer Aspire One is the one that achieves this the best. TO my mind 10" netbooks are encroaching on laptop territory.

agreed - which is why I plumped for an Acer in the end. Got a deal on one at an out of town retail park shop.... SSD version for £140. Less than ½ the price of an NC10. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that the NC10s are good, but I couldn't justify spending that amount of money when the Aspire One does what I need it to do for less than half the price of the Sammy.

Dell Mini 10 - just been released - upgrades to come but u can throw in a pre-n for £10.
Not too sure about upgrading the ram, apparently you cant ???

No you can't as it's soldered to a daughterboard, also the XP license that most netbooks use doesn't allow it to be sold with more than 1GB RAM so I don't think they would be able to offer a 2GB version without a price hike due to the more expensive license.
