Which netbook would i need?

A Netbook would'nt run wow that great.. with minimum graphics settings you will tolerable speed for lvling but don't try anything more then that. It will run the rest you said with ease.

No you can't as it's soldered to a daughterboard, also the XP license that most netbooks use doesn't allow it to be sold with more than 1GB RAM so I don't think they would be able to offer a 2GB version without a price hike due to the more expensive license.

I just check and it has 1 x soldered (512mb) + 1 x 512mb so I'm sure I could throw another 1gb in and get 1.5gb on it...? :)

Yes they are capped at 2gb.

I've just bought a Lenovo S10e. Great build quality and one has access to the 2.5" drive and 1 free dim (the other is solderd on the board)

Hi Wes

Have you upgraded your S10e to 2gb ram?

I'm leaning towards the Lenovo as I have a T60p for work and love it..

Hold on a sec here, I don't know weather one detail in the requirements list has gone unnoticed by the majority here (I know DIABLO mentioned it), the Samsung NC10 or any of the Atom Netbooks will do everything you asked just fine, except, run WoW properly.

I have an NC10 right here, and it does not run WoW anything close to what I would call 'properly' with all the graphical settings at the lowest. It will run WoW classic, in Azeroth on the lowest settings ok and it's tolerable in the now rather empty Outland for levelling purposes but the Wrath of the Lich King content, no chance, it's a slide show.

If you want to run WoW properly, you are going to need a 'proper' laptop I am afraid, you can get some pretty decent small ones though. Samsung's very own Q210-AS04 would do the trick, its not a powerhouse but it's got a 2GHz C2D and a Geforce 9200GS graphics chip in it and a 12" display, it's pretty small and light although obviously not Netbook small and light, but it will run WoW properly if you keep the quality settings low in the WoTLK content and it will run the old content with much better settings. Really though, if you play WoW seriously enough to be into raiding and such, you will need something much more powerful than you can get in this size bracket, you would be back into the 15.4" category really.

I can get a Dell Mini 10 with 2 years warranty 1gb ram and the new Atom Z530 for £299.99 inclucding vat and delivery?

Only has a 3 cell battery though.....

Lenovo S10e is better than the NC10....its nto stupidly shiney hence wont get covered in smudges and cr@p in seconds, also easier to upgrade and much nicer :D

Better? Can you explain how/why? Not being funny I'm just stuck between which one to get too so all views welcome! :)

Lenovo does look more business like!

It isn't better really and the only way I would say it is easier to upgrade is because it has an Expresscard slot, but that's it, that is the only advantage it has over the NC10.

It does have a couple of disadvantages though, the first being the trade-off for including an Expresscard slot is the loss of a USB port, so it has 2 to the NC10's 3. Which is more useful to you will really decide this I suppose.

The second disadvantage is significantly less battery life. From what I have read you would be lucky to see more than 4 hours out of the S10 under 'typical' usage. The NC10 on the other hand will deliver in excess of 6 hours under similar use, indeed it will give you more like 8 if you really 'try' to maximise it.

Shiny or mat finish, is not a quantifiable advantage really, it basically comes down to personal preference. For me though, the S10 makes a compelling case, but, the stock battery life is the deal breaker at the end of the day. Which is why I bought an NC10. I also based this on the fact that I don't really have much use for an Expresscard slot on my Netbook, I do however have a use for a 3rd USB port.

The S10 with a 3 cell is significantly cheaper than the NC10, if you want the 6 cell to be comparable on battery life its still cheaper!!!

Yea that's a fair point, although it seems to be about £27-£30 less for an S10 with a 160GB hard drive than the NC10 with the same spec. To me though, £30 isn't a lot to pay for much better battery life. Still, if you don't need it, then you make a good point. I do not know what a 6 cell battery for the S10 costs though, and I mean a good one, not a really cheapo let's burst into flames and kill your family job.
