Which of these two hard disks is the fastest?

I use an SSD for my OS and a few other things and I have a dilemma as to what to use as my secondary drive. I can use this one that I have lying around and bought a few years ago:

Samsung HD501LJ 500GB Internal SATA 16MB 7200RPM Hard Drive

Or I could use this one that I salvaged from a dead laptop:

Western Digital WD Scorpio 250GB 8MB 5400rpm, WD2500BEVT

Which of these is faster or just the better disk to use?

A few things

1 - You can't link items OCUK sell from another website on here, or items that OCUK don't sell but similar, or even tell people to use Google to search for the actual name.

2 - They are 2 different drives, one is 2.5 and one is 3.5

3 - The 7200rpm one is faster. Which I am shocked you don't know that if you have the system in your sig. It would be like a mechanic asking what is the difference between Petrol and Diesel.

I would have guessed the 7400rpm disk would be faster, but the 5400rpm laptop disk always 'felt' faster so I thought there might be another factor at play that I wasn't aware of.
