which one to keep?

I have 2 HDD's but my new HTPC case only has room for one more drive and I was wondering which one is the best?

I have a Western Digital WD Caviar SE WD2500JS 250Gb

and a

Maxtor Maxline III 7L250S0 250Gb

both SATA 1

Neither are great drives, just curious to see if one manufacturer was better than the other...

Put the other in an external caddie and use both? I would put which ever one is quietest inside the HTPC.

My vote would go with the WD.

Cool - I will use the WD then, I have another 2 160GB SATA drives I will lose as well, so I will be getting an external enclosure, but Im looking at a 4 drive external unit such as the drobo or other competing units which I cant link to here. THat way I can expand my storage as I go..

You'd need some serious noise dampening in that puppy for a HTPC.

I would ditch the 160GB drives, they are too small for file storage. Might come in handy if you want to build up a PC with old components, or sell them to friends. 1TB Samsung F1's are about £85 now
