Not a fan of porsche. Is the jag fresh or is it built on old under pinnings? Not really researched this.

Gtr is on a different league. That said it's a sell out. The old ones have appeal. The new one is way too common for my liking. You not considered going mad and getting a tuned R34 V-Spec II?

Also what about the new 4c? Looks fan bloody tastic and would be epic for track?

The jag is supposed to be the best "road car" of the 3 based on several video reviews i've seen on all 3 of them. The porsche and the nissan for me both have image issues, and as you said so many porches around that you barely notice one driving past now.

Go test drive the Jag, its a lovely car but it was just missing something, I felt it would get boring very quickly. The only car to replace a 911 is another newer faster 911.

Coupe is more up Gibbos street and there is a definate jump in 'tightness' over the convertible.

Guess it comes down to test drives. Cant see the fix for something different to the current 911 being to get another 911? :p

Jag.

Caymen - Screams "I can't afford a new 911 turbo"
GTR - It's for mid life crisis middle managers, and 20somethings that still live at home with mummy and daddy in leafy surrey.

But i see that in most models. The F-Type V6 S says - Can't afford the R. But it's still a damn good car, and beautiful looking. Same with the Cayman.

I'd go for the F-Type. As i've already said many times, it's beautiful, capable and sounds great, regardless of not being the full V8.

See this comment is no longer true. A Cayman S is a superior handling car to a 911 Turbo in my opinion and offers a different driving experience, to some which is preferable. The V6S F-Type is the same, it offers balance and better handling over its V8 counterpart.

If performance and statistics was everyones buying factor when buying a new expensive sports car sub 100k, then everyone would buy a GTR. A GTR though tempting for its abilities does not offer the same fun/engagement factor that a Cayman, F-Type or 911 would offer me. When it comes to looks/sound I far prefer the F-Type over them all!

Yep, I love a convertible with the roof down, but aesthetically Coupes are more my thing and no matter what anyone says, they handle better due to the tightness/rigidity.

I'd not want a new 911, its taken a step away from what the 911 was and a step closer to being something like a GTR in my view. Everyone who drives it says the same, it no longer feels so much 911 any more but at the same time its become more capable and that performance is easier accessible.

Porsche best 911 of all time was simply the 997.2 GT3 and 4.0 RS. The 997.2 GTS are also excellent and of course the 997.1's are awesome to drive but have their inherent reliability issues.

Gibbo, I was just wondering what car(s) you would be selling if you went for one of these options?

Pretty much this. What is your plans/intention for this car?

If you went for the Cayman you'd be very happy, although I suspect after a while you'll start to look back sometimes with rose tinted glasses at the other Porsche's you've driven and be left a little disappointed.

The F-Type is very aesthetically pleasing and will turn heads. If you intend doing the odd track day, it won't be long before you either buy a track car or wish you chosen something else.

A GTR is possibly an itch you need to scratch so to speak. Depending on what you want to use it for this would be my recommendation.

Slightly off topic, I'm surprised with the low ARP (5.9%) BMW are offering on the new M3/4 and the £27,630.99 deposit contribution on the M6.

whats with all these "this car says you cant afford another car" type comments?

with an £80k budget, would you really care?

my view:
Im a bit confused with this thread. you have an M3 track orientated road car for track use, a cheap jag for keeping the miles off the other two and pottering around in.

selling the 911 wouldnt net you a great deal and arguably you couldnt swap it for anything of an equal caliber.

why would you look at a driver focussed cayman that is ideal for track when you have a car for that already?

the [new] Jag, i can understand as it is a stark contrast from your 911 but ultimately doesnt offer anything performance wise your current high performance sports car doesn't do well or better already.

you have had enough seat time in a GT-R to know what they are all about. sure it would be mental and you could tune it, but you have the M3 for showering a car with mods and not having to worry about warranties and such.

If you fancy a change, with an 80K budget I would be dead set on a certain car already and not even be asking opinions. An 80k decision is the sort of decision where your heart and your head come into play and you buy what you love.

With 80K I would do the following:

- sell all cars
- buy one all round performance car (£20K)
- house deposit

As ultimately none of those cars are a big enough step up from a 911, the pricing reflects the newness, that is all.
