Which platform/CPU should I get?

I'm noticing a lot of bottleneck with my 2500k with a 1080 ti.

I toyed with getting a 3770k, but have decided to full upgrade.

I would like to get something for hopefully under £500 and do a high overclock.

Could you advise which platform/CPU to go for?

Thanks :)

Anything that's not a quad core for the future imo. I7's are getting maxxed out on all cores on a few games now. Problem is anything above a quad doesn't clock as high. What resolution are you on? If i were you I'd be looking at a 6800k or a ryzen platform. Though i doubt either will be under £500 given the fact you need to buy new memory.

If you want to be able to do decent overclocks the mk1 Ryzen's are a no go, That said Ryzens the best option around your price point but as mentioned you'll also need to upgrade to ddr4 which means you'll need to push the budget up a bit for either Intel of AMD.
