im looking for a 1200w psu for my pc. The reason im looking for a 1200w psu is so that it will last me quite a few years with me needing to upgrade in the future if power requirements do get to this point in the future.

It has to be modular, good quality and on the small side. Im not talking odd shapes, or uber expensive ones to get really small. My budget is about £220 but obviously less is better.

Im been looking at the be quite! 1200w as its 150 x 86 x 160 mm (WxHxD), i know a few psu are this size. But are there ones any smaller? or better psu's?

its enough for now, but what about 3 years time. Id rather spend a little bit more now and allow it to last a little longer.

Therefore in the future when i want to upgrade I can leave the bottom half of my case and pretty much only have to touch the motherboard.

But I suppose in 3 years time we might have 95% efficient psu that are a lot smaller.

Components are becoming far more efficient aswell, not needing as much power. 1200W is for the most enthusiastic rig you can imagine. Like you said better and more efficient PSU's will be coming out aswell. Unless you plan on spending well over £3000 on a PC over the coming years I think it's safe to say you wont need that much power.

The 1000W be quiet has the exact same connections as the 1200W, becasue you pretty much can't get anymore components in a PC :p I reckon it'll be enough for anything you put it through over the next few years, but hey if you have the money just get the 1200W ;) You seem set on that power.

Look for the most efficient PSU, not the one with the biggest wattage rating.
Efficiency is far more important imo.
