Well today i dropped my side panel on my Razer Diamondback and smashed the right button (or atleast the component underneath it) so i need a new mouse.

My limit is £40 (not inc p&P) and want something either the same or better.

I cannot wait for the Lachesis because is need a mouse urgently and cannot stand using this scrollball, so which one do you recomend.

And if so why?

Thanks

Logitech MX518 ;)

comfy and awesome, all in one mouse!

i've had mine since launch and i still don't want another mouse!

Had my Diamondback since launch and i love their huge buttons and ergonomic style, tried the MX 518 and it felt to clunky, im really after another Razer (my dad is going to try and fix it tommorow maybe able to wait until the Lachesis but really if that doesnt work then im gonna need one before Portal :<

well, if you've tried it and didn't like it, i've nothing more to say. good luck on fixing it though :)

Diamondback 3G, i hear its awesome.

My logitech MX518 fits me perfect though so dont dare change to a razer

Dont mean to offend anyone but i dont like Logitech mouses, probably fanboy speech but i really like Razer, as i said only Logitech mouse i tried was 518 and it didnt feel that great and im really used to the huge Diamondback buttons, maybe i should get a Deathadder or wait for the Lachesis.

I have borrowed a Saitek mouse from a friend and i dont mind but i want my Teflon Pads back :<

I love my MX518 also, best mouse I have owned and they are at a great price too. But If you don't like logitech mice as you say, I would opt for the Deathadder :)

I have both. The Death adder and the Copperhead. It's a really hard one to comment on though as I'm still deciding on what one to keep but I'll try and make some sense of it.

I used the Copperhead for over a year and I really stepped up my accuracy on online FPS games with it but the draw back was always the laser skipping (even on a Razer Exact mat). It's also a bit small for my hands but not too small.

I really got used to the finger flicking actions so the transition to the palm based Death Adder wasn't as pleasant as I'd hoped. When I plugged the Death Adder in and fired up Call of Duty, my hand started to hurt and it was quite awkward for this finger flicker. After a few games with short rests in between I started to find it to work pretty well and the dreaded laser skipping is no more!!!!!!! :D. Rifling accuracy has improved with the new shape but close range combat in games can prove to be a bit more awkward as it's a bit bigger than the Copperhead. I find the Copperhead to be better in close range combat apart from the laser skipping that is.

Even though the Death Adder is palm based I can still use it like a finger flicker and then palm based for long range rifle shots. This helps in close range battles as a finger flick is more easier than moving your whole arm.

Death Adders Pros:

The 3G feels to be more precise than the laser but it would be hard to notice I'd think. Better rifling handling for pixel kills (tiniest amount of body shown for long range kills) and also long range rifling. No skipping at all. Much Comfier and the side buttons are easily accessible now. I'm not 100% sure on this but the clicking of the buttons seems a little smoother now. Great for palm based players.

Cons:

The new shape doesn't like lefty's. Only 2 additional buttons other than right, middle and left click. Finger flickers will think of this mouse like "Marmite", they'll either love it or hate it. Middle wheel is a bit flimsy for weapon selection sometimes.

Copperheads Pros:

Finger flicking heaven with the edged ridges that support your thumb and pinkie. Much better for close combat players as finger flicking is hard at great distances when rifling. Accurate laser for precise shooting. Quite durable too as I've had it for over a year and it's still perfect. Good buttons.

Cons:

The dreaded skipping which has lost me countless number of frags. A bit small for people with larger hands. Flimsy middle wheel for weapon selection like the DeathAdder.

If your a palm based player then get the DeathAdder. You will love it. If you are a finger flicker like me then I couldn't recommend the Copperhead as the laser skipping is terrible. It's the only thing that's keeping me using this DeathAdder. For a finger flicker then I'd suggest the Razer Diamondback 3G as it's Infrared and shaped like the Copperhead so a perfect balance up IMO.

Or you could wait for the 4000DPI Razer Lachesis ;) (shipping November). This will have 3G laser this time so I'm hoping that the skipping will stop and the new shape is based around the Death Adder but still quite appealing for finger flickers.

Always buy the same mouse you are used to and if they stop making it get one as similar size and shape as possible.

Myself I would buy a £10 Microsoft Optical Mouse and make do with it for a month until the Lachesis is released. But then I am a chronic sufferer of buyers remorse :p

IS the Lachesis as small or bigger then the Copperhead? Also in the market for another Razer mouse, but I like small mice like my current Copperhead.

that lachesis looks awsome a friend has just purchassd a copperhead and is really pleased with it so im thinking about this mouse here. might be time to ditch the intelli mouse explorer v4.0 finnaly and the big round back of that mouse seems to be calling the palm of my hand to hear "BOOM HEADSHOT" as the server sounds out that ive tortured another one of its clan members :D

My current squeaker is a MX510. When that bites the cheese ill either move to a 518 or, if the wire keeps irritating me, ill source a MX1000. I have big clunky hands so ones that are really over engineered to be "ergonomic" i have problems with.
