or the netgear dg834gt

which will give the better range and wireless speed.

cheers

(i did look on google before im flamed. i can find which is better, im feeling netgear but not sure)

Ok thanks. Yer its via a cable. The reason im willing even to try any router other then i have is because im on my ipod touch directly above above the front room upstairs and im getting two bars. Even 2 bars sitting downstairs sometimes like 3-4 meters away. I think the router is a bad one or the wifi ariel inside is buggered either way the wifi performance is poor

^ im getting round to getting a linksys wrt unit,

the one i have is a Netgear DG934G

sky-adsl-router.jpg

every were ive read about wireless range its all ways put down on the wireless performance. i mean im not asking it much and it cant even give me full signal up stairs directly above the unit.

theres no power lines or motorways i live in a semi rural place with the odd passing cass id say about 5-10 a minute in the morning and evening and the rest like 3-4 a minute, so not busy. my middle wall is plaster with the stairs running though. and the walls arent incredibly thick i would say of a normal thickness for a normal 1940's/50's house

see i get full signal every were in the front room or 2 bars and 2 dropping to 1 in some places in the kitchen and 1 bar 20foot to the garden, were it says table and beyond that i get nothing but 2 bars 10 feet upstairs!!!. its not beside any electical units, telephones etc.

lol i thought so,

oh with this dgt firmware is it best to update the router via the web panal? as the instructions say via recover unitlity for win xp 32 users, so im guess it wont work that way on the win 7 64bit?

yer, right, little problem, updated the router, and it didnt work before update but it shows no internet. is there any drivers needed?

just says no internet access on the tool bar, trouble shooting says there may be a cable unplugged but i tried swapping to a normal cable and no diffrence, and it works on the old netgear, so im no stumped to why it wont just connect

i would sugest a remote assistance with teamplayer but as i have not connection thats impossible!

Router lights are all green and web panal says connected, i dont understand why it wont work! Im hijacking my mates wifi next door to try and solve this

no in cmd but yes in router ping part, im fed up now, it aint straight forward or atleast workable. i know it works as it was used before. any way heres so screen shoots ive put together to hopefully see what the problem is, main thing i see this the chap, but that usserly means user name but ive got it set as no username and password needed. any how please tell me if there is something wrong

youve lost me. i only know a little!!!

how can i do the above

i got my old netgear back on now shall i show ipconfig for that?

On top of what DJMK4 said, if you're with Sky you do need a username and password and Sky won't give it to you. You'll need to extract it from the router or there's apparently a website that can generate them.

interesting. so any ideas on the website that could do so, or how to get it from the router?

yes the above is from the config file

can i not back up this router, then restore the file to the other router?
