which router?

I wouldnt back up config and restore to the other, as one is a DG834G and the other one a DG834GT.

Have a look around google, there must be a solution for this.

well just had a rowe wit sky broadband department told them the wireless range was crap. he assured me he could boost it, well he told me to run channels 6 11 or 13
right now im testing ch 6 and im getting 1 bar half way up my garden now,

but and what makes me want to cancel is i cant use any 3rd party routers and the username cant be obtained in any way.

i can although buy from them... how convenient

i would but that guide dont work, with the other site the sky password generator i put in the new netgear mac and not the old netgear mac and s/n :O

I'm not assuring you, but I think channels 1, 6 and 11 could be recommended as these minimise the potential for interference.

Assuming you are just using a laptop with internal WiFi, consider trying a cheap 'high gain' antenna on the AP or, if you want to go ghetto, knock up a DIY parabolic reflector.

only problem with that is the router dosnt have a place for a Ariel!!

The black sky netgear routers dont, they use internal wireless adaptors and the black sky netgears are rubbish.

I thought you had a DG834GT? (White netgear) that you were setting up?

Talk about confusing :D

I must have skim read because I saw images in the opening post, and screenshots in reply 24 and thought you were now trying a DG834GT.

That mspaint floor plan drawing then reminded me of your old thread.

no but you have to obtain your adsl username and password. which i cant. even using both ways. im either too dumb or there too clever, i have the black router and trying to setup the white one. which is not working because of the champ thing. meaning i need the username which sky will not give, apparently its part of there contract terms and conditions

Why not leave the sky router plugged in, then use the new netgear router as a wireless bridge to extend the network or does it not have the ability to do this? If not powerline between the two devices so one is near the exterior wall and set it up as a second wireless AP.
