Which small dog?

We have a Westie at home called Lulu. We mainly got a Westie due to my Dad's animal allergy. They don't malt or produce any allergies so she's perfect for us. She has a very good nature and is very friendly. Her only problem is when she rolls in the mud after she's had a wash!

msm722 your dog is so so cute!!! I'd love a little dog like that :)

There is dog near me which I think is a minature shetland terrier. She looks like Lassie but smaller and has a ginger/white coat. I always want to pinch her lol

My nan has a Westie - makes me laugh when people talk about their 'tough' large dogs and you see them hide in the house when it's raining. Her Westie sits outside for 3 or 4 hours every night on guard, regardless of rain or snow. Nutter. :D

I do love mini Schnauzers too (Colin!) although they're pretty aggressive with other dogs.

Edit: here's the little horror:

PLAY?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a small family dog. Looking for something around jack russell size.

King Charles ;)

My G/F has one and her mum has 2 and has had others in the past. Lovely dogs albeit not as superior as my Lab :p

That brings back childhood memories of our cairn (similar breed). The only time he wasn't keen on going out was when the snow was over his head (although he'd head back in again quickly with snow or ice - that's chilling on paws). Out with him early in the morning in freezing rain blowing sideways, the only other people I'd see were also walking their dogs. Compared to the high ground in the highlands of Scotland, southeast England probably seemed quite temperate.

Thanks for reminding me of another reason to not have a dog :)

awwww I want a dog so much! Again another vote for a beagle! I'd love one! Unfortunately I just don't see how I can get one since I work weird hours!!! any one have any suggestions on how to have a dog whilst working full time???

Another vote for the Yorkie here.
We have 2, dog and a bitch.
Great dogs, very inteliigent and make excellent guard dogs (they will let you know if anyone is on your property)
They also don't moult either and are good for allergy sufferers.

My sis has a cavvy King Charles, lovely little thing but completely bonkers!
Also, cos she has a lot of white in her she gets crapped up quite a lot.

It might be too big but our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is pretty cool. He's fairly easy to look after and seems happy with a really long walk or no walk at all. At home he's nice and quiet but very loyal. He's also brilliant with the children if that's relevant.

update.... we're going tomorrow to see a Jug. Thats a jack russell pug cross.

Its a male, and looks like this, just a bit lighter

:D
