Which small dog?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a small family dog. Looking for something around jack russell size.

what ever you decide on, can i urge you to get a 'shelter' dog rather than a specially bred dog.
so many rescued dogs have to be put to sleep because there is not enough market for them - people want designer puppies now!!

i'd be interested in knowing peoples opinions on the different breeds of smaller dog - we'll be getting one in the future, and other than knowing which i think are cutest - i have no idea about anything else!!

A Beagle. When I'm in a position to support a dog I'll be getting a Beagle. Lots of character and not a small 'yappy' dog, which I hate

Is giving dog breeds three letter abbreviations a new thing? Can't say I've ever seen anyone do it before

Maybe it's just the terrier breeds?

beagle. But be prepared to give it a decent walk every day (as with any dog, but moreso with a beagle)
