Which sport car 10-12K max?

What about a '7' and keep whatever daily you have now. It will benefit from supreme handling and can be insured for peanuts. My son built and drives a Dax Rush and has an Alfa 156 and he's only 25.

Andi.

I'd agree fully myself, but I'm also one of the kit car loonies and am building myself a toy car too, which might even be finished one day. We're not normal though, and it's already been established in this thread the OP doesn't want a proper sports car at all - he wants a flashy looking tin-top.

I'm toying between an MX5, Z4 or 350z. I just can't decide! 350z is my favourite but omgz fuel...

If only I had a garage, I'd be all over a 7! :p

I don't want to get a Alfa. They look nice don't get my wrong but the brera just looks like a glorified hatchback. The cars i'm liking at the moment are a 350z, z4, new shape 3 series coupe, new shape mercedes benz c class sport, new shape audi tt. I work for Nissan I might even see what kind of a deal I can get on a brand new 370Z.

Obviously with the Nissan's fuel will be a problem.

If you don't like fuel bills then I'd avoid Nissan altogether. Shame as they are thoroughly good cars.

Fuel should be irrelevant really considering the Nissan will save you £££ in purchase price compared to the Audi and BMW...

Do your sums before shooting down a really really good coupé

Not to familiar with the running costs, but Mercedes CLK?

Looks nice, would be good for "posing" and I imagine the smaller engined cars would return OK mpg

CLK looks dated to me. I'm not shooting down a 350Z but it is old and I understand I shouldn't worry about the fuel costs as it'll save me a lot on base price. If I got a 370Z though it'll be both expensive to buy and high fuel costs. I'm leaning towards a C Class Sport as that's what my mates seem to suggest.

Can you really get a good current shape C Class for £10k?
I think I'll need to blow the full 12K budget.

how about the new shaped SLKs, you can get the SLK350 for 12k and under these days, good performance and fuel, well doesn't look too bad but in reality I'm not sure.
I think they look a tad girly! I drove one a few years back and I didn't like the driving position felt a bit weird to me as I like to have the seat lean back a bit.

Have you considered the fact it'll be out of warranty and the Mercedes warranty is ridiculously expensive to renew? This is a major consideration if the ecnomics of the purchase rely on a 5 year loan to work - will you have spare cash to fix it when it breaks? German prestige metal is cool, great to drive and full of tech. But it isn't exactly what you'd call bulletproof in the reliability stakes these days. And I presume you've done things like check the price of a set of tyres on a Sport? I can't remember what size the C Class runs but the E Class Sport runs the same rear tyres as my 5 Series - they are £200 each..

If you've considered this and can budget for it then great - the C Class is a good car. But if you've not this probably wont end well. Especially as you'll likely end up with a diesel one because 90% of them are diesel and they are a bit of nightmare reliability wise.

God my heads hurting. I'm not looking to buy it just yet I have time a good few months so it's fine to know exactly what I want. What do you think Fox after having replied throughout the whole thread what do you think I should be looking to get? Consider any of these cars will be a dream compared to my Nissan Juke anyways (it's a ok car don't get me wrong but it's nothing compared to the ones suggested).

Nice selection.
I am torn between:
MX5 MK2.5
S2000
350Z

But at present its a mute point, Saving. :o
Just how bad is the 350Z with fuel, 20MPG at best?

@ OP look at the MX5, there cheap, fast an look great.

Unless you're motorwaying a lot, I think you should budget for 20mpg. Plus, you should run it on the super unleaded which is a few pence more.

I've ruled out the S2000, insurance quotes are stupid. I can get into a MX5 for just under a grand, Z4 and 350z are about £1400 whilst the S2000 is around £2200.

Regarding 350z consumption.

Just filled up today.

311 miles from 61 litres so around 22MPG, that includes 250 miles of my mental wales trip too!

Thats not bad. So around 350 miles, if I drove sensibly.
I really would fancy the V6. Hmmm
Thanks for the info, food for thought.
