Which SSD for my MacBook?

Hi there,

Wanted to know which cheap(ish) SSD you recommend for my MacBook.

Currently got at 120GB (111.4GB formatted) drive in there of which 44.6GB is free. So that means my rough usage would be around 80GB.

For me it was between the Intel X25-M 80GB or the Crucial M225 128GB.

I've heard that performance significantly decreases as you fill up the drive (is that right?) which is making me learn towards the Crucial M225.

Anyone got a real-life experience with this or insight?

Also do either of them support TRIM which I hear is quite important.

Thanks.

Just bought a 128gb Crucial for my main PC and the performance is phenomenal compared to a regular HDD.

I decided on the Crucial over the Intel based on the price/performance ration. The Intel is faster definitely, but you'll pay over £100 extra for that speed. All Indellinx-based drives are getting TRIM support, and there's a wiper tool from Indillinx that does the same, just in an application, which removes the problem of filling up the drive.

So if money is no object, get the Intel, but for me it wasn't, so I bought a Crucial and I'm very happy with it :)

on MAC you have to work of GC only (it has an built in TRIM as long as you leave the system on for 1 hr no sleep) as TRIM is not supported on an mac

Sorry, can anyone expand on this.

What is GC?

Are you saying that the MAC has it's own software TRIM that it implements and that actual TRIM (as I was referring to it before) is not supported?
